    Largest Glowsticks for Night Diving?

Now that's a cool idea! I guess I'd have to figure out what kind of container I could put it in and make sure it was water tight. But that could get really interesting! Thanks!

    Largest Glowsticks for Night Diving?

I like taking large glow sticks on night dives as my marker light. There's no good reason; it's just something to get a laugh from my fellow divers and to be a little different. So far I've been able to find 15" green glow sticks online with relative ease. They aren't cheap, but I consider...

You want to go deep? Very deep? And indoor? (Nemo33)

It's pretty echo-y too. Small space, flat walls. Haven't figured out a good way to carry on a conversation in there yet. But then again .. you don't need more than a few words ... you're supposed to be diving! If you get to the "cave" area, an easier solution for talking is to be had just...

    Diving near Reading, UK

Another quick question. What's available for diving around Reading, UK? I'll dive in cold water, but my dive buddy prefers non-hypothermia-inducing dive spots. Is there anything near by? Or is it all pretty cold all year long?

    Diving in the Canary Islands?

Hi All, I'm not sure if this should be in the Western Europe forum or the Africa forum, but here goes. A couple of us are considering a trip to the Canary Islands next year. Three divers, one non-diver. How's the diving? Where's the "best" diving (e.g. most interesting ... not necessarily...

    Recomendations for Curacao Dive Operator

Check out Dive Charter Curacao. Niels is a great guy. He brings a small rib around and you can go diving with whomever is diving that day. I went last year with a buddy for a day while we were in Curacao. I had a great time and it was a very cool, personalized experience.

    Dutch Springs-New OW!

Yup. There are at least two, if not more, dive shops from VA that bring groups of divers up. There are many VA divers who come up on their own too. It's not a short drive, but it's a great alternative to our local quarry considering it's vis, attractions, facilities, etc. Plus, a change of...

    Curacao must-dive sites?

Hi Guys. I'm not new here, so I _know_ that this is taking the lazy man's way out, but do any of you have recommendations for a few must-dive sites in Curacao? I'm heading down in early August with a couple friends and don't know much about the local dive scene yet. Is it mostly shore diving...

    Hello from D.C.

Welcome! I'd also toss in Dutch Springs in Bethlehem, PA. It's another quarry, but much nicer than Millbrook. Good vis, lots of sunken toys, and lots of space to camp / good facilities. Check it out. James

    What is a divemaster?

it is the entry level professional certification for recreational scuba diving. The details vary somewhat by certification agency, but basically a dive master has completed the traditional recreational training levels (open water, advanced open water, rescue, a CPR / First Aid / EFR course...

    Wetsuit Durometer Ratings?

Thanks jerogers. She said it has something to do with painting (as in walls and rooms). I'm trying to pry the details out of her and let ya know! For those interested, here is the definition of durometer that I found at WiseGeek: "... a gauge that can be used to check the density or hardness...

    Wetsuit Durometer Ratings?

Does anyone know what the typical durometer rating is of the neoprene in a 1mil (skin), 3mil, 5mil, and 7mil wetsuit? What is a durometer rating, you ask? Well, in this forum you might not be asking, but I had to look it up. It's the measurement of a material's density or hardness...

    Should Seals be hunted?

Yes. In fact, they should be hunted to extinction. Period. No. Actually, everyone who looks at a seal the wrong way should face severe fines and penalties. Hunting and killing one should incur the needle. W.T.F. kind of question is this? There's no right answer. There are so many...
