Anything less than 15m vis is a night dive?!! Wowza...I've never been diving in the daytime then!! If we get 3m vis around here, I'm saying how wonderful the vis at the jetty is! And I certainly wouldn't call it a "night" dive. Sure..it gets a bit "overcast" at depth...but not a "night"...

Any current reports from Hood Canal? (Sund Rock/Octo Hole would be appreciated!!) Heading out there at the end of the month and looking to find out what to expect. Cheers, Austin

They make vis better than 3'?!! Diving up here, especially on the Oregon Coast, can be challenging like that. Throw into account that we dive sites frequented by large, scary, they-make-movies-about-them sharks, and you can sometimes freak yourself out. But, as has been said, you learn to...

Hey boys and girls... The thread title says it all. It's time to upgrade from the Suunto Cobra (I've fallen in love with wireless...*sigh* ;) ) and I've narrowed it down to the two computers listed in the thread title. (Suunto Vytec DS and Oceanic VT3) I know/trust the Suunto computers, but...

50 is pretty normal around here (I'd still classify it as a "coldwater dive" though). Up in the mountain lakes, it's usually in the mid-30's to low-40's...so that's "cold" for me (starts getting quite bad on the hands at the end of the second dive). Then again...I'm not crazy enough to dive...

And here I thought I was the only one. Agreed with Blitz on the Harbour Seal issue...and I also frequently dive a little "Great White Zone" here on the Oregon Coast (couple of surfer attacks, but no diver attacks)..so there's that too. I notice my SAC is always a little higher when diving...

You can...but it's not worth it from what I've heard. It's a very long, very steep, very rocky walk fully geared-up to the water. All to see......not a whole lot. (I've never attempted the dive myself, but I know a couple of instructors who have...a couple of slips and a whole lot of exertion...
