Dry suits-neo vs crush/ comp neo vs laminate vs fusion. How do they dive/feel?

I went from a laminate to a CF200 years ago. PNW diver. The laminate was a USIA bio flex type with back entry. Also around that time I switched from a jacket type BCD to a backplate wing. I think that impacted how I felt more streamlined and agile with the CF200. I wore out the USIA at...

    Purchasing a BP/W

quick comment - I regret buying a hybrid back-inflate jacket bcd when I first transitioned from a jacket bcd. Should have just went to the bpw. A great benefit of bpw is replacing components that wear out. Can’t do that with the hybrid or jacket. Good utility for busy science or commercial...

    Article: Streamlining Your Scuba Kit

I kept a telephone-cord type stretchy thing for my light. Then a major tangle involving a reel and heavy surge. Those things are tangle traps very efficient at capturing lines at merely a touch. I wont even give them away.Good article. I need to do more work on my setup.

    Drysuit weighting advice

I've found that when I dive with the bare minimum weight it eventually causes water to seep in through my wrist seals. I think this is due to having the suit shrink wrapped while spending time in the shallows. If I add just 4 lbs I have more warmth and dryness. This has happened on multiple...

Learn how to do-it-yourself drysuit leak test - DOGTV New Episode

I do appreciate the videos, watched most/all of them. They are short and to the point, not a bunch of intro, music and promo. Thanks.

Debating getting a wrist computer, pros and cons

I use an AI wrist comp and I also keep a console for backup. The comp has not failed or lost link. However the console has saved many dives when I have left the comp elsewhere. I like how easy it is to glance at air remaining. When doing work tasks in challenging conditions it is quite...

    What do you think???

I wouldn't. Bottom time is important, among other things. Say you are pushing it on time at 70'. You've increased saturation in the tissue compartments that are slower to offgas. Perhaps one day it is slower than usual (worked during SI, stressful week, gained weight, dehydrated, stressful...

    Question about Electronic Log Books

In mac dive I fill in dive type with "rec", "sci", etc so I can later sort and print just those log pages to pdf. This lets me submit log pages as required for various scientific diving control boards or whatever. I also keep track of equipment servicing as required by the same. Sync'd to...

    Waterproof D1 Hybrid Drysuit

I dove the D1 in 50F water and wore a set of thin polypro long underwear underneath. The dive was very enjoyable and warm, the suit fit well. It just felt like a solid, quality suit. I really liked their hood. The gloves were nice too, but I prefer a thinner material. Oh yes, I forgot...

    Dry suit durability

So, usually people say how many dives they had on their suit before it passed on. I've found there is another variable to consider. Will you be wearing your suit between dives and doing light or heavy surface work in it? This can have a significant impact in lower suit wear points. Even...

Are you happy with your Aeris Elite T3?

I know this is a few months old but thought I'd add my T3 Elite review. I've had my T3 with wireless pressure transducer for 6 months now, 50 dives with it. My previous computer was a Suunto Cobra air integrated that had air pressure and depth transducers go bad after a little over 200 dives...

Dive logs, how do you download?

I use Mac-Dive on my imac to download my aeris t3 and suunto cobra. It saves me time and gets lots of details. I also print log pages to pdf to report dives for organizations, easy to email that in.

    Breathing and buoyancy

Also a good lead in to how someone who is not using their bcd effectively subconciously uses breathing to compensate. Nice teaching aid!

    Dive Table Question

As was said, the navy tables assume deeper nitrogen saturation due to deco diving. The padi rdp tables assume you will be less saturated in the harder to offgas tissues since it is no deco oriented as most rec diving is. So, the rdp gives you about twice the credit for surface intervals...

First dives - flood of memories

Studying for dm now and as I review the basic open water PADI manual I recall those first few dives in the pool and open water. I had forgotten that at one point all the basic skills I take for granted now were small challenges. Sitting in the semi circle waiting for my turn to do a mask...

    SKIP BREATHING is this nonsense?

I fell into a habit of exhaling in 4 or 5 short spurts (a rythym) as a way to calm down my breathing. I do that when running or other too. It worked for me, sometimes too well. When I worked hard it gave me a serious headache after. I am thinking it is just a variation of skip breathing...

SCUBA diving: a cure for eczema.

I had long term eczema that totally went away due to scuba. I tried avoiding dairy to help my air consumption and all sorts of things went away. Turned out after tests I was allergic to dairy. If you start diving a dry suit its back to scratching!

    Suunto Vyper 2 and Macdive

After mistakenly buying the CustomIdea suunto cable I found it kind of dead ended support before snow leopard. No reply from their e-mail. Nothing via google. On to another cable.

    Remora friend

Well, doesn't seem so bad then. I had a 2mm shorty so I was somewhat protected. I'll just ignore the next one.

    Remora friend

There I was, shore diving off Scuba Club Cozumel last week, and this lonely remora swam a fast bee line right to me. Man, these guys are genetically programmed to cling. They will not take no for an answer. I wasn't quite sure it wouldn't try some kind of painful attachment so I kept a good...
