I'll say ditto here. And I'm -6 and -6.5. Prescription mask is great for for bringing up your vision in addition to what the water doesn itself.

Did my cert with Sinai Divers in Sharm el Shiek. Used a little bay (just off the beach) for the "confined water" portion. Not sure if it was the first or second cert dive out in the Red Sea proper, but I remember having a huge wrasse go after my pressure guage.

OK, just my 2¢ (or being Canadian, maybe a nickle). Aug 89, got my cert in the Red Sea (1 week course). Pretty basic. 8 or 10 students with 1 instructor. Had fun, learned a few things (even remembered them) Nov 93, wife gets her cert in Jamaica (I followed along as a refresher). Another 1...

My son just finished his OW with GDI while I followed along as a tune-up. Don't think I could find a better instructor anywhere. Demanding, fair, patient, comprehensive (even with a 13 year old). Know where I'll be going next time I'm looking for a course.

Could also trim it down a bit from your nose. Razors tend to be cheaper than masks ;)
