    Dog Days

No, but I did see the bottle. Nice to know such treasures are hidden in the depths of the quarry. :skull:

    Dog Days

I'd like to put out thanks to all of the divers that helped out at the Brownstone Quarry event. Everyone did a terrific job of making it a fun time. My buddy (spouse) and I are still quite new to diving, but were eager to try going dry. I got everything I wanted out of the event: I became...

    Dive Center Belize Help???

A bit off topic, but -- I'll be in Belize for my second trip to Caye Caulker late December - early January. If you end up on the 'little island to the south', check out Belize Dive Services-- and look me up! Caye Caulker is a less developed, and much smaller alternative to Ambergris Caye. I...

    MK25-Which end is up?

It is one of those weird design things with Scubapro. I have an MK17, and there is a pretty plastic cap on one end that most divers would want pointed down (otherwise the reg rides too high). Maybe it's a way to tell the posers from the cool divers...:shades:

Air Fills from a Volunteer Firehouse

Thanks for the idea. I would love to volunteer some time our with the local SAR folk.

Air Fills from a Volunteer Firehouse

Ah, thank you for the straight forward response. Here was my reasoning: 25ppm=.0025% or a partial pressure of .0025atm. Even at 130ft, the partial pressure goes upto .0125atm. True, I was off base by changing the ppm rather than referring to partial pressure, but my point was that an...

New angle on Japanese dolphin issue

Those wanting to save dolphins and polluters make strange bed-fellows. We may not eat any more dolphins, but can end up killing them just the same.

    Purchasing Own Equipment

The Ranger is a great bc, but may be a bit bulky for travel. If you like the Zeagle line, consider the Brigade (only from Scubatoys) and the Stiletto (if you are comfortable with a back-inflation model). Good luck!

    Purchasing Own Equipment

I agree with Bvmjethead, not to rush too quickly. However my experiences renting in the Caribbean was not that encouraging. I was at a reputable dive shop, but rented a bc with its inflator valve stuck on; the regs my wife rented had a leaking hose ready to burst. I would consider buying...

    C-Cards

Multiple creds on one card, sweet. I think having a pocket-full of cards makes the whole PADI card system seem kinda silly. Why not list specialties on one card, or provide stickers for added credentials?

    Laws, ordinances, rules???

Welcome to the Board, and good luck on your cert! You might want to direct your question to the Florida Conch Divers Forum. They will be able to give you better local information. You could also meet some folks to go diving with there, too.

New to SCUBA and the boards

Welcome Aboard! 1) Sorry, no clue 2) Here are some things to consider when purchasing a computer (not in any particular order): * How conservative is the nitrogen loading algorithm * Can the computer be set to be more conservative for cold water or stressful dives * Is the display clear...

    Questions about Wetsuits

Over years, seams can leak and the neoprene becomes compressed, losing its insulating properties. Being that you were using 3mil suits, I would guess water leakage is the culprit. It could also be that as you are getting a bit older, the cold is less fun. I recently bought a Bare Velocity...

"Why are SO many divers also smokers?"

Oh... you meant smoking tobacco! The diving community is host to a number of bad habits. :hippy:

    Ct Dive Clubs?

Here's an online listing. Given your location, I would think SECONN is the best bet. Innerspace is another possibility; Rocky Hill isn't too far away, and you'll spend most of your time diving with the folks, anyway. http://scuba.about.com/cs/connecticutclubs/index.htm BTW, I have no...

Air Fills from a Volunteer Firehouse

I don't think that concentration under depth has anything to do with it. From what I found on exposure levels of methane, 25ppm is a very low threshold. OSHA has no methane exposure limit, it is simple asphyxiant.-- edit: With Firefyter's post, this seems to be moot anyway.
