    Pockets and bungees/D-rings?

Maybe it's something I'd hope would be obvious that you're missing, it kinda falls into the general common sense life rule of 'if something is in your way (and it will be sooner or later) and you don't need it/aren't using it so get rid of it' approach. Why is it we feel the nonsensical need to...

    Doubles and DIRF

I believe every cert has an expiration (3 yrs.?) Whether you choose to re-up is your choice. It's an easy procedure but I believe the only reason anyone would really need to do so at best is to be able to take the next course. Even that I highly doubt would be any real obstacle to overcome...

    Doubles and DIRF

FWIW, I've seen now that the Provisional has been given an extended time beyond 6 months, and in fact up to a year. I've also noted that there has been provisions where the original instructor does not have to be the one to do the final evaluation. The only thing they need to work on now is to...

New Divers -- I need your help...

Well now I almost feel bad :blinking: Giving up and packing it in and declaring it universally hopeless is exactly what I've done. Sure you're going to help the odd person, but you can do that without aiding the w4ore-house operators. Now I'm fairly content pounding publicly on the clowns at...

New Divers -- I need your help...

It's short for ata-boy. It's the number of pats on the back you give someone after their dive. Basically the deeper they go, the more ata-boy's you give them. It is directly proportional to the number of bad looks Peter will get from his instructor for trying to "help". While I commend the...

    Valve Drill Logistics

Actually a lot of what he has to say about that makes sense. It's pretty clear to me from reading a lot of posts here that the Iso first's main idea is to, well, isolate both tanks first, to ensure you have the maximum amount of gas in each individual tank regardless of the actual problem is...

    Cave diving? I am tempted....

Pro-5000 Diver How Many On Board? When Awarded?

You may know him.....He's Seahunter on this board or something like that anyway. That's his local handle. His name is Alec Pierce (sp), from Ontario Can. I think he invented water or something. I believe he's an SSI 5000 member.

    Anyone use a Weezle?

Shoot man, it doesn't get that warm in July unless you're 40ft or shallower. BTW, a good way to keep the wife out of you team IS to get her the cheap/thin stuff. Works for Jay and I anyway. :crafty:

    Naked SPG

I would hazard than 97% of my diving is off of (always) crowded boats. My plastic gauges bounce very well. I do notice they scratch easier than glass. I am way more worried about my $1500 HID than I am a $50 gauge that can take a lot more abuse and still work flawlessly.

lol, good timing. My daughter just pulled out some old dive pictures of me she was storing somewhere in that mess she calls a room. I laughed my a-s-s off at the config. What a complete mess. The best part is, SHE was tearing ME a new one, and naming off the whole gamut of my complete...

    Naked SPG

Don't worry dude, I'll show you full stroke this February, and you will like it, or at least laugh at it and opt to dive with Mel only, instead :)

    Naked SPG

This has been my experience as well. I just ended up switched over to all plastic gauges after busting too many brass and glass. It may seem counter-intuitive, but my experience with both tells me the plastic busts less often. We have a few guys up here that have found similar results.

    Anyone use a Weezle?

This has been my experience to the letter with the Weezles. I just switched back to my weezies after over a year trying other stuff. Nothing I have tried even comes close. I forgot how warm I could be. I had what I needed all along, and didn't even know it.

    Pod Casts

lol. The one before, where he and Safety-Sally chuckled over the avon-dir connection but failed to follow it up with Bob when he had a chance........ I was so disappointed. Ooops. sorry John_B, looks like there was two of wasting our time that day :) lol.

    DIR friendly shops on Cozumel

I'll second that vote for Christi. We dived with her the first year she opened up, and although I don't think there actually is what we would consider a truly 'DIR Op' on the Island, she was professional and the DM's were safety oriented. The entire week was the best dive op work I have seen...

Get Scuba Certified for $199 1 time only deal

Meh, one pool dive, no pool dive, what's the difference, as long as you're having fun. By the looks of it, they'll be too busy striking poses to actually get out and dive anyway ;) Nice skin shots though, gotta admit ;) Meow. Scary? No, He said Padi. qa <at> padi .com Not that they...

    Deep diving accident

I'm thinking you're the only one talking averages........ I can average 0.95 on O2, but attempt to start it at 3.0 :D

    Deep diving accident

AFAIK, she's wrong there. We still use 1.6 for deco. Bottom is usually not greater than 1.2 Dave, I think she's referring to Jeff T. I don't recall much chat about the PPO and duration or any contributing factors though, unlike the first death.
