    Gauge backup or not?

I dont know what that is, but I received my training from IAOID (International association of Internet Divers) where I was able to show equivelency to other agencies Advanced Helitrox without getting in the water. I know there are others here who might qualify if interested, as the time logged...

    Inflating BC during ascent?

Kat, May I please be the first to suggest that you re-do (presumabely you are certified) your open water class. Your question reveals a shortcoming in your training which cannot be overlooked. Please do not think I am making an attempt to be mean, but I am truly concerned about your safety given...

Correct bolt snap for Halcyon Scout?

Then you can wonder why you dont get any customer service since the business will be bankrupt after they finish paying Halcyon for the theft of their product line.

Correct bolt snap for Halcyon Scout?

I use the same gloves (DUI neoprene) and have no problem with reserve light deployment with the smaller snap. (Dont substitute equipment for skill developement) Avoid buying snaps at hardware stores for $3.50 as they likely dont have a stainless spring and will begin to stick almost immediatly.

    Calling Scientific Divers

Regarding the relocation of a specific dive site for the purpose of conducting a survey, is there a specific technique (s) to do so? (Other than the obvious GPS / marker buoy) I'm not looking for good ideas or suggestions, rather accepted scientific practice on the matter. Thanx!

OK, as long as we're at it...I have a complete set of everything. Did I mention I also have a full service dive shop with trimix / triox / Nitrox / DUI dry suits / Halcyon BCD's & long hose regs? Double bladder wing for a Halcyon backplate/harness?

I dont keep aluminum doubles in my garage either, but they are available in many of the locations I dive wet. I have even gone as far as taking bands and manifold with me, and twin the commonly available aluminum 80's. Diving steel 119's with a wet suit? bests wishes and god be with you!

Double bladder wing for a Halcyon backplate/harness?

The short answer is that a set of alum 80's and a wet suit IS likely to be balanced. Everything else aside, if you are neutrally buoyant with a minimum amount of gas (200 psi lets say) at 10 feet at the end of your dive, then you are overweighted at the beginning of your dive by the weight of...

    Gauge backup or not?

Ditch the console, it's an entanglement hazard. Wrist mount your timer/computer, and put a brass & glass spg without boot on a 26" hose bolt snapped off to the left hip d-ring. Then, learn to plan your gas consumption so that the gauge becomes a backup device for your own mental processes...

Double bladder wing for a Halcyon backplate/harness?

Here's the poop. First, please reconsider your instructor since he doesn't seem to understand the basic tenent of diving a "balanced" system. Please allow me to explain: since you're wearing a wet suit which when compressed at 100 ft has approximately +6 lbs of buoyancy as compared to +22 lbs of...

    Deep Air Diving - thoughts

This discussion has gone from rediculous to ludicris! To assert that "I can do it, but I dont know about you", is reminiscent of the chest-pounding machismo bullcrap that pervaded the cave diving community in the 60's. If you dive deep (100 ft and deeper) on air, YOU ARE IMPAIRED. In fact, you...

Sea Life Center Scientific Diver dies in training

We'all (to use your vernacular) seem like intelligent people huh? "thats why it seems difficult for us to make sense of all the small tidbits made public"? Of what public record are you speaking? Last I heard, there was a lawsuit filed and the folks involved became tight-lipped. Please share...

    Overfill at Castaway Scuba

It's not enough that the dive shop spends $10,000 to $20,000 on a compressor THEN hires and trains employees to safely do air fills, AND maintains filters, oil changes, liability insurance for the dive center and the cost of electricity to run the compressor....but then clowns like you squabble...

    How do I do a 50m bounce?

Wow! This thread has gone from good advice; (get the right training) to the Darwinian approach of "he can do whatever he wants...god help him". Well, scuba accidenta are bad for all of us. We enjoy a non-government regulated activity, but if enough people die from stupid stunts this could...
