    G1X settings

I have been using this camera for a while now, but my photography skills and knowledge are pretty crappy, but for a point and shoot person, with no strobes or anything, the camera is good enough for my needs. The camera received a bad rap for its lack of macro and slow focus, which I admit, can...

Isla Guadalupe White Shark Diving with Islander Charters: Late report/trip review

I have just booked yesterday with Nautilus Explorer leaving July 28th to Guadalupe, I am very excited to be going on this trip. Managed to get a direct flight this morning with BA, not cheap, but arrive into San Diego on the 27th. A quick question, just a little concerned that as this is the...

Fairly new to diving, what camera should I take underwater??

Hi I took a little Canon S90 and a Canon G1 X out to Galapagos in the summer. As other posters have mentioned the conditions can be quite challenging, particulary around Darwin & Wolf, so I would stick with a smaller camera which will allow you to concentrate on your bouyancy as well as taking...

Southern Red Sea - Canon G1 X pictures.

Hi Herman The housing I have is Canons own, WP-DC 44 I think it is....something like that! I do not have any strobes or flash, just used the natural light. Zoom was OK, didn't really use it that much.....I don't have much to compare it too, so not sure what's good or bad to be honest. For me...

I have used the G1 X whilst diving, (link to the pictures below).....I am a complete novice and found the camera OK, but I am point and shoot, no strobes or anything fancy.....but the pictures came out alright. I was happy with them, bearing in mind the water wasn't crystal clear and I didn't...

    Canon G1 X

I own a Canon G1 X and I have dived with it quite a lot, a couple of times in the Maldives and on a recent trip to Galapagos. I will be upfront, I am by know means a serious photographer, I understand very little about photography so my view of the G1 X will probably mean very little to you and...

    Canon G1 X - Galapagos

No strobes used in any of the photo's, or built in flash. All the light is natural but I do shoot in RAW and then adjust colours etc afterwards if needed.I also use my Canon S90 which I have had for years and is really easy and good fun to use, plus I have a wide angle and macro wet lenses...

    Canon G1 X - Galapagos

Thanks for taking the time to do this, I really appreciate the advice and for the pointers which you have given me indicating where I have gone wrong. As I thought, it is down to my complete lack of knowledge with this camera and still learning the basics of underwater photography, but at least...

Galapagos - You gotta go !! (trip pictures)

My Iguana shots were also at Punta Espinosa on Fernandina, like you say, shallow depth but it was really tricky to get shots. Love the Youtube clips, especially the Mola mola :D Thanks for sharing my photo's around. An Orca whilst diving would really be the cherry on the cake, maybe some day !!

Galapagos - You gotta go !! (trip pictures)

Glad you like the photo's, I absolutely loved the Galapagos, I was just amazed by the diversity of the place, it really is a very special place. The Hammerheads with the garden eels were taken in Darwin, Pelican shot was Cabo Marshal, great dive too. The pelican was just in front of me as I...
