    Costa Rica Dive and Surf

Does anyone have any experience with this operator? My wife and I are planning a trip to Dominical CR in June and want to do some diving. Thanks!

Any diving around Dominical, Costa Rica?

Nikwho, I would be interested in hearing about your experiences with who you end up using after your trip. My wife and I will be spending a couple weeks in Dominical learning Spanish in June. We want to do some diving there during our free time. I was looking at Costa Rica Dive and Surf since...

We Need Your Opinion and we're willing to Pay!

Bruce, I just wanted to publicly thank you for the wonderful gift you sent. The M&M's were a nice touch as well. I will get lots of use from it during my upcoming dives. Steve

We Need Your Opinion and we're willing to Pay!

I own several Seasoft products but my favorite by far is my BC. I love the way I can adjust it to fit just right no matter what exposure protection or size tank I am wearing for a given dive.

Bob Brayman's International Diving Career Institute at Hall's

While I dont necessarily qualify to answer your post, I have done some pretty extensive research into some of the "zero to hero" (as some like to call them) programs. I entertained the idea of doing one of those myself some day when I am ready to make the move to become a dive pro, but in the...

    Dive beer?

My favorite post dive treat is to stop off at the Rogue Brewery in Newport for a hearty meal washed down by a few pints of thier Chocolate Stout. MMmmmmm my two favorite flavors, chocolate and beer, artfully crafted into a little piece of heaven in a glass. If we arent diving the Oregon...

    Military Members Roll Call

I already posted here awhile back but have since found and have been active in a site that networks military folks, kind of like myspace. I have managed to connect with some old shipmates from about 23 years ago. The link in my signature line will take you to my page on the navy site, but from...

    New iDive 300

Please pardon my ignorance....but I have to ask.... why would anyone bring an ipod diving?

    Am I overreacting or not?

I have to say that I agree and disagree with what has been posted here so far... Yes as divers we are responsible for our own safety, etc. But as dive buddies, we are also responsible for each other. My buddy can manage her own air just fine, but we often look at each others computers so that...

    Gear Choices for New Diver

I am surprised that no one has jumped on this yet.... Anyway, here is my 2 cents on this subject. Since you are newly certified, I would take some time and rent different configurations of gear before you buy. That way you can try it out a few times and see what you like and dont like about...

    Skanky LDS behaviour...

It has been my experience that there is such a huge mark up on scuba gear... I have yet to pay "full" price for anything I have bought at my favorite LDS and I think that has a lot to do with the mark up. The shop owner can put what ever price they choose on something, and then "knock off a...

    Keeping your buddy close

That would be our main concern when we do it. But we both carry good dive knives, and disentaglement was one of our favorite drills in rescue class.... So far we have only used a tether a couple times, and we still stay within touching distance anyway. The primary reason to use the tether...

    Keeping your buddy close

When my wife and I dive in low vis, which is most of the time.... 3-6ft, we just stay really close to each other, sometimes holding hands. When the vis is really bad, I have a 10' line with bolt snaps on each end that we tether together with.

    Does this plan sound reasonable?

Yes it does.... Sounds like a great plan, but you have to remain flexible. Especially since you left out the part about "accidentally" falling in love and getting married, having kids, etc.... Gotta have a contigincy plan for that, because it always seems to happen just when you think you...

    Cleaning equipment used in saltwater

I usually hose all my gear off to get the sand and stuff out. Then I'll set up a tub with fresh water and Simple Green and soak everything in that for at least 20 minutes, then transfer it to another tub of just water and let it soak some more followed by another rinse with the hose. Then hang...

Shop owners -- What value am I to you?

Great guys or not..... I wouldn't have put up with this poor level of customer service and would have taken my business elswhere.

Do I need a dive light?

You probably dont need to worry about getting one until after you are certified. But having said that I have had at least a small light on a retractor in my BC since I bought it. I can tell you from experience that there are sites on the Oregon Coast, such as Waldport, where it seems that the...
