    Four dead in Italian cave

It's never good idea to go to any kind of overhead environment without proper equipment and training with or without cave certified guides. Take a look at recent report from the area you're referencing to - there was tripple fatality at cenote Chac Mol on April 19 this year.

    GUE Practitioners...Convince Me

It would be useful if you can split this figure to class-gear just to give us a clear picture. Regarding the expectations, you have the right to expect to get best training and you have the right to set the bar of expectations as high as possible. I suggest you to share your view of this...

Light cord over or under long hose

The light cord should always go under the long hose when the light head is clipped off - temporary or permanent - cord loop tucked under the hose and waist strap.

Pros and Cons of Rigid D-Ring on Hip?

 After years and years we still have the same type of posts: "Oh, I can't do that but my advice is change this and that and you'll be OK". My advice is as same as always: "Hit some water and practice a little bit."

Just had to share this . . .

Thanks for reminding us :D Besides the diving itself, in my case, the system has helped a lot in establishing ties with cave diving comunity. Couple of years ago I couldn't imagine diving on a cave project. Now, I'm a part of GUE cave project in Bosnia, diving there with Chris, Fred and lot of...

Pros and Cons of Rigid D-Ring on Hip?

    Cave 1 Class Report

That's what I said after my C1 class. I also remember when I said: "Those caves will never see me. I'll never dip my head in those holes." But as time passes decisions are chenged :D Now, I just have to rearange my schedule and to decide France or Mexico for C2. Congratulations! It was nice...

Is this DIR (and how does one find out what is and isn't)

By taking a class, learning how to handle and use particular piece of gear and understanding why it's used in that way, thinking about principles applied and trying to get broader picture.

    Console vs SPG

Actually, I would say that SPG is :) backup pressure gauge. The primary pressure gauge is your bottom timer: by tracking your exposure you know how much gas you have - SPG is there just to confirm what you expect to see.

    One more valve drill question

I didn't have cave scenario in my mind (I'm baby Cave 1 :D) but that's we usually do in Tech-2 dives: switch to BG on the fly with no big hassle, if somebody does it before others (because of any reason) he/she notifies the rest after switch.
  16. MonkSeal

    One more valve drill question

It's little bit OT: Do you flash when you make switch from the bottom stage (when closing stage valve) if it's done earlier in the dive then expected? Or you just notice team after switch?

    One more valve drill question

When I mentioned "doing more by yourself" I thought about extending diagnostics rather then trying to fix the problem. E.g. in real life if you make wrong assumption on valve failure and close working one, you should evaluate the situation and try to correct your diagnosis.

    One more valve drill question

Well, it depends on level ... At T1/C1 level it's taught like you described whilst at T2 you're encouraged to do more by yourself.

LDS says My Torus 26 doesnt have enough LIFT

I really don't see how arguments about death fish or death lobster bouyancy contribute to wing sizing and proper weighting discussion. Especially in this sub-forum. There's an easy solution for armchair divers to check validity of posted advices: go diving!
