    LED light flickering

I also had this happen. After tightening the ring, the problem was fixed. Now, after 20 dives after 15 minutes into the dive, the light stays ON in the off position. Only high works. the Rest is a dim light. I've switched to new batteries too.

    Trustfire TR-J1 review

Well, I meant I just soaked it in fresh water to get the salt off. I did not loosen anything then soak it. I think the light is the same intensity, still blinds me.

    Trustfire TR-J1 review

After 4 dives prior to my 5th dive the light was intermittent on land. I thought there might have been salt in the contacts of the magnetic switch. I soaked it for a while but it still didn't help. I switched the battery, clean the battery contacts, cleaned the magnetic switch but no...

    Trustfire TR-J1 review

OK, got the tr-j1 finally in the water. The assault ring was hard to get off. First 2 dives 3 weeks ago...forgot the light in my dive bag, wasn't clipped to my BCD. This weekend did 4 dives average 20 meters. Light works fine. Day dive with vis 12 meters left light on Med so other divers could...

    Tusa or Atomic?

Tusa SF-15 or Smoke on the water. I have tried both. The smoke on the water was too stiff for me, I got rid of it. I have 3 pairs of SF-15. and 1 SF-8 black. The black SF-15/8 has a stiffer compound then the Yellow, Red, Blue, or White. I either use the SF-15 black or Apollo splits. And No...

    Trustfire TR-J1 review

Can anyone recommend a good dive charter near Waianae, Oahu?

Recommend Gabe and his crew also. Dove with them many times. I also will be out there in March. They meet at the harbor.

To weight or not to weight

Dear Lance, it also depends on your weight. I and 5'6" 72kg. and dive a 5mm with 10L steel tank. I use 4kg. or 9 pounds of weight. The less weight will be easier on controlling your buoyancy, but if you go too light at the end of the dive you will start to float when in the shallows. If I use...

    Visit to Oahu

sjmueller, When are you visiting Oahu? The charters will take you out to the wrecks. I have never hear about boats not allowing you to go beyond 50 feet from the boat. And I have been on many charters.

    Oahu and Big Island

Latitude59, if you had 4 photographers in a group I would think that will dictate the priority. Nice and slow...maybe cover only half the distance planned. Hope your future dives turn out better for you.

    Oahu and Big Island

I also dove with Capt. Bruce many times. I like the free food and drinks. I understand why they don't let buddy groups go off on their own. Maybe if they know you (dive experience). I've seen buddy groups surface 200 yards down current of the boat. Photographers and tour divers have different...

    Moving to Shikoku

Chim Chim, here's the list of Shikoku shops. I don't think any of them speak English. They probably will not answer email in English too. Dive Directory | Scuba Diving Directory | Dive Center Directory Provides Scuba Diving Information on over 8500 PADI and SSI Diving Centers ... When you...

    Aeris EX Lite Travel BCD

Anyone has this Aeris Ex Lite BCD? I saw it in a LDS. I can't find many reviews on it though. Looks like the Scubapro litehawk but weaker material. Price is less too.

    Visit to Oahu

Most of the dive shops will rent gear. Try and look at it first, you want new and good maintained equipment. Some places have old and very used stuff. Most located near Waikiki. In Kapolei you have only Westside Dive and Tackle and Capt. Bruce's in Waianae. If you are going to the North Shore-...

    underwater hunting season in Oahu

Spoolin is right, you have to know the laws and which reef fish are higher risk of ciguatera poisioning. Most of the fish will be small unless you go to secluded spots.
