Just wanted some nice suggestions for dive ops that are decent for the Key West area. I now it's not one of the more popular areas for Keys diving, so I figured I'd turn to the board for input.
If you have some accomodations suggestions to throw in, that would be cool too!
Thanks
Anyone know how the conditions (vis, waves, etc.) have been at Venice lately?
Planning on heading there tomorrow for some tooth hunting.
P.S. - Got any secret hunting spots to share?
Do you mean over the harness or under the harness?
I wear mine under the harness, and it usually rides below the harness belt (lower on my waist). I'm not sure of the true DIR way here (sorry).
Maybe true DIR is the ACB system (http://www.halcyon.net/dir/faq_13.shtml)
Mike,
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I looked through the NSS-CDS Workbook for Cavern - Intro - Cave and it really doesn't specify how to use the simpler type of spool. Also looks like the same thing (or pretty close) is made by Dive Rite (fgray1). Found it over here...
Not sure if the use of the Halcyon brand spool would be included in the NSS-CDS manual for cavern diving. The instructor suggested that if I want to use it, I should have some practice before going into the course (as opposed to just using a Dive Rite reel/spool). I'd rather learn the Halcyon...
Ah well. If the weather is still good, Matt and I will be there (at least for the afternoon dive). I'll check the weather the day of, and if it's as bad as a few weeks ago, we'll scrub. Seas seem to be cooperating so far, so we'll see.
Planning on heading out to Boynton Beach for an afternoon (1:00) dive on Splashdown Divers (http://www.splashdowndivers.com)...maybe a morning dive too (but still undecided).
The boat is still empty besides Dr. Jay and FallenMatt if anyone else is interested in getting wet.
...but it's happend to mine too...in a trip to Blue Springs (about 60-90 ft) where I noticed the "cracking" sound. I've had it on somewhere around 10 dives after that and it hasn't flooded yet...."knock on wood".
Dr. Jay and FallenMatt are booked on the Koller's Reef 3-tank dive charter leaving the Riviera Beach Marina (the same one as Rampage) at 8:30 in the a.m......
Should be an interesting trip.
darkmoon3d you are more than welcome to join us. The website of the charter is...
Trying to plan a dive this weekend, and I'm looking for a good wreck on an afternoon dive charter in the West Palm area.
I've seen the Capt. Tony enough to make me tired of it.
Any others? Maybe the Princess Anne?
Any charters that would for sure hit a wreck on an afternoon dive? I'd...
