Komodo LoB in August - why so low occupancy?

I did a couple of trips with Grand Komodo twenty years ago (so they have been around for a while :)). I was on board Tarata which was a nice budget boat; diving wise it was flawless, rest was simple but ok. I’d recommend getting in touch with them directly, they were (are ?) a professional...

    Nusa Penida

Hello Indonesia experts, After five years I am finally going back to Indonesia again this summer. Seems that there has been lots of development on Penida, and wondering if it makes sense to stay there ? For instance two fish have setup an outfit. I have only seen Penida from the boat when...

    Nusa Penida dive shop

After five years I am finally going back to Indonesia again this summer. Seems that there has been lots of development on Penida, and wondering if it makes sense to stay there ? For instance two fish have setup an outfit. I have only seen Penida from the boat when commuting from Padangbai to...

Thats so sad, do you know what happened ? the big school of jacks is gone, George (the big barracuda) is gone, now the bump heads ? starting to wonder if I will recognize the liberty next time I visit (it’s been four years now :()

Diving certificate and first week November diving Bali?

Lucky you to be living in Bali ! I’ll second the recommendation on gecko dive in Padangbai for your daughter. You could also ask them for your refresher or certification - my son did his open water and then the Advanced with them and it was all very well organized and run.

New Regulation on Komodo National Park

Batu Bolong is such an amazing site... Did a couple of dives there last month and we were the only boat at 7:00 in the morning, and ranks in my top 10 dives ever: In addition to the very healthy and fishy site, we had the pleasure of seeing 8 dolphins, including mother and calf, eagle rays...

Epic Dive Today in Crystal Bay...

That's pretty amazing ! It must have been quite a circus at Crystal Bay ! I have never seen dolphins on scuba in my 1000+ dives in South East Asia. In the Red Sea however I have been lucky enough to have several encounters, it seems to be fairly common there from what local guides tell me...

    Tulamben on December/January

I've visited Tulamben a number of times around that period, sometimes it is very good, sometimes there can be a lot of swell which reduces visibility and makes beach entry & exit challenging... Hope this helps

Water Temp in Egypt in Dec/Jan

Did a trip Mid-December last year (Brothers/ Daedalus/ Elphinstone). Water temp was 22 to 24C, I was very comfy in a 7mm. Back on the boat after the dive, it felt a bit chilly though... Otherwise diving was very good, only one other boat at Brothers and we spent 2 days at Daedalus without...

    Dive Pros- Tulamben &Amed

Luko's comments are spot on (as usual). I'd just add that there are some enjoyable spots between the Japanese wreck and Gili Selang, (e.g. Golden Wall, Kusambi); you are likely to dive those on your own as they are far from Jemeluk and subject to strong currents (although easier than Selang)...

    Papua Explorers Dive Resort question

I did most of my diving in Indonesia when I was living in Singapore, including 5 live aboard trips in Raja Ampat. Having moved back to Europe, I started diving the Red Sea last year and have been there 3 times now. I do think that a week's diving in Dampier strait will give a fair idea of how...
