Grilled hog fish? Anyone tried it?

My favorite recipe and fish period. douse your hog fish fillets with a little lime juice and cilantro.....not long however. Grill on med/low heat and when you flip the fillets, top them with mango salsa. cook till finished and serve over saffron rice with black beans on the side. A glass of...

    Diver fights off 12-foot shark

Then I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt. It seems strange however that the thread actively mentioning the SB bias against spearos is removed, while this and the poll thread remain and remain without the accurate information. Sportsmen need not be censored, and this seems a very good...

    Diver fights off 12-foot shark

Pulling a thread to "scrub" it just because senior posters & sponsors were wrong and looked like idiots when the parties involved told the truth is simply unethical. Surely these people with all the intelligence & dive training are responsible enough to edit their own posts or retract/apologize...

    Diver fights off 12-foot shark

This thread was fully discussed in the "accidents and incidents" forum until a moderator pulled it off the board. One of the brothers of the gentlemen logged on and exposed many of the SB veterans to be anti spearo and flat out wrong in their discussion. (putting it nicely). If anyone knows...

    Broken Fitting?

Fair point regarding the Reg tech. Since I was not there observing, I have no way of knowing if it was not broken during re-assembly. However, I'm going to take it to my friend that is a materials engineer from NC State to take a good look at it and explain to my satisfaction the discoloration...

    Broken Fitting?

I can see corrosion in the middle of the field, indicating to me a plating problem. None of the other fittings had a corrosion problem and were all installed to the same torque. In my industry, Hazardous materials transportation, I find many differences in fittings, tankers, metallurgy and...

    Broken Fitting?

Sorry for my mistype..it is the Grey LP hose...with the knob on it. It came with my rig. I will post a photo tomorrow of the fitting. The technician wondered if it was an import fitting because he has rarely seen that happen. thank you.

    Broken Fitting?

Tobin, My rig is a year old and I sent my reg in for annual service. When I picked it up today, the technician reported that the fitting on the end of the HP hose broke upon removal. They were happy that they were able to remove the nipple out of the first stage that remained. They felt that...

    Favorite piece of dive gear

On the Vintage side, would have to be my original Sherwood Magnum (not what they make today). Easy to take apart on the boat. Actually dove it last year and it worked fine. On the new side of this question.. my DSS stainless plate and torus 26 wing. Freedom is what that piece of gear...

    Who dives their own boat?

Bought a wonderful dive boat last year for my part of the world. She is a 245 C-Hawk that has a full transom, flare bow and very deep vee. Powered with a brand new suzuki 250 four stroke. I dive the coast of North Carolina, so usually have a 3 -4 foot head sea going out and off shore it can...

    Regs......which one to choose

I use the Mk25 and love it. Live and dive on the coast of NC, so ice and low temp is not an issue. Would buy another. Cheers, Roadtrip

    Missing Diver Off Georgia Coast

This story makes me proud of the men and women that choose to serve our country. I am sure that the training level of the "nightdippers" is top of the line and obviously they were prepared to assist. The Commander has every right to be very pleased with his crew. Cheers, Roadtrip

    Inflater / bladder Question

I've replaced my old rig with a bp/w set up but I'd like to repair a bothersome problem with the old rig so that I can lend it to friends that come diving with me this summer. My old set up was a Scubapro Rec-Tek soft pack wing bc. It suffers from a common problem to those rigs and that is the...

    Scuba Gear/Automobile Analogy

So I'm a buick man that sucks on a cadillac? Doesn't sound right to me. After comparing my DSS BPW with the Mercedes wing....it looks more like I'm driving the Lexus compared to a honda. But...to each his own. Cheers Roadtrip

    Dive Ladder Needed

I really do like the way your ladder comes off at a 45 degree angle. For me...this will prevent someone from damaging a trip tab if they are clumsy with their fins. Thanks for the pics.

Have any of you ever come across a diver that looks like this? How do you handle them

A cross between a smurf and a chia pet that dives. Interesting.

    N00b advice needed on BP/W

The good news is that the DSS backplate is so low profile and easy to breakdown that you can slip it into your carry on or briefcase. Course the TSA boys might wonder about it....

    Dive Ladder Needed

I'm refitting a 25 C-Hawk for diving and am looking for a 4 step pole ladder that will fold completely up and out of the water. Aluminum. (Have to mount the base to an aluminum outboard bracket that is being made). I do not want the kind that has to be pulled off and re-inserted upsided down...
