At the moment we don't do these deep South trips.
We're not convinced that the diving is really better there, the corals are better but the variation in marine life is less and as we sail out of sync with the rest anyway there is no need to go there.
A deep south trip also makes everything a lot...
What is a reasonable price for a lob?
Scuba tours are among the most expensive ones, the cook is not so good, the boat is a bit small and old but they have a good reputation regarding serous diving.
That is mainly so if you move with the pack and book a 1 week trip. 90% of the boats have 1 week trips starting and ending on sunday.
If you book 9, 10 or 14days (not 2x7) you can escape the mass, not much operators organising these though, but we do ;-).
Below one of our secret places where the...
Last season was a great season, not too much wind and rain and plenty of sharks, mantarays and whalesharks. The only disappointing thing was that Hanifaru Bay was rubbish.
We organize these trips with the Dhinasha but we are currently looking to buy our own boat as our contract ends after our...
Got it!
To jump the batteries I used a bend paper-clip. As for the oil, I used non perfumed/scented baby oil.
The computer still shows the wrench and 60% battery life but I got it in dive mode and will keep it next to my D6 as a comparison on the next dive.
Thanks for all the info about...
I got one for the D6 after going through 5 rubber straps and I am very happy with it and can only recommend this product.
Indeed this is what Suunto should have come up with in the first place.
Cheers,
Bas
Is there any special trick in jumping the two pins?
I have a wrench after battery change but if I jump the two pins nothing happens.
PS Suunto gave me new computer internals for my D6 (3,5 years old, 750dives) for 100eur including new battery. The computer malfunctioned but it was outside the...
A picture says more than a thousand words......here a video report of our October & November 2011 safaris which gives you an idea about diving in the Maldives.
The video is shot with a canon s95 (!) in an ikelite housing. Actually this is a photo camera but because of the strong currents we need...
The thing with 5* is also valid for the liveaboards. The more stars, the less skilled divers you will find. A boat like that will try to stay away from currents as most divers will not be able to handle this.
If the quality diving is the most important reason to come to the Maldives go with a 3...
I have emailed Scubapro and they confirmed you need the "special" software which they don't want to give out of their hands and am now waiting for an answer how much it costs only to reset the computer (battery and oil change already done).
Still hoping to find someone who discovered a work...
Hi Arturo,
The video you link to is the reset for the "old" Aladin smart model with the Memomouse system to transfer data to the pc. The reset can also be done through the interface and the wakeup function.
The newer smart com and smart pro models use an IrDa device for communication with a pc...
Hanifaru has been very poor last season.
A lot of boats went there from the start of the season (> July) but after many many trips with unhappy customers they stopped going to Hanifaru.
Don't know if the mantas were scared away by the dozens of boats (10 boats was not unusual) or the lack of...
Changing the battery and the oil is a walk in the park, the only problem I have after replacing is the service spanner.
The reset as given as a solution works for the smart com but the smart pro has an other layout.
Does anyone have an idea how to reset the smart pro after a battery change? I...
On a normal lob you will do 3 (sometimes 4) dives a day except the first and last day (transfers). In my opinion 3 dives is more than enough, especially when you do some deep/strong current dives.
in a one week safari you will probably do 17 or 18 dives, in a 14 day safari you will do 38 dives.
Try Bandos Island resort, close to Male and not too expensive.
Some nice dive sites in the vicinity, Okobe thila, HP Reef, Lankan Finolhu (mantapoint), Nassimo Thila, Banana reef, and a reasonable house reef.
For all those people who are talking about 60 minutes diving doesn't make sense.....we have currents up to 4 knots in the Maldives.
Biggest risk of diving in the Maldives is not finding the divers at the end of the dive and in that regard the 1 hour dive limit makes a lot of sense. As we...
Hi Ladydevil,
I would opt for September but with the weather changing all over the planet you still can be unlucky.
We also have a couple of trips to Hanifaru lined up but we start at the end of September.
Regards,
Bas
