Lost a nice men's ring Saturday along the rocks in Lover's Cove at Catalina, towards the west side of the cove. It's a good size ring and can provide more details if found. Lot's of sentimental value.
Unfortunately this year I won't be able to make it due to prior arrangements. Hopefully they have it again in October.
Good luck on the vis. When I started I could maybe see my hand in front of my face, after all the sediment got kicked up all I could see was my reflection in my goggles...
I went for their 2nd cleanup back in October, it was fun. Nothing like reaching around in zero vis and trying to guess what it is you have a hold of.
It was well organized and a bummer there wasn't more divers involved.
I came across someone fishing from their boat so I figured eh, why not? I tugged on their sinker twice and then watched as they promptly reeled 'er in. Next time I'll have to give them something to reel in.
Ah, I should have said conditions.
I knew it's a rain or shine event but thought I read somewhere it's up to the harbor master based on conditions. If the event has only been canceled once so far than there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
I made a cart with pre-cut PVC and fittings from Home Depot with a shelf on the bottom of it- cost me about $40. After soaking/rinsing my gear I hang it on the cart and roll it into the garage, after a couple days it's all nice and dry.
Beats dragging all that wet gear into the house and...
The Sundiver Express might be worth checking out, it's a fast little boat out of Alamitos Bay. While it might not be quite as comfortable as some of the larger dive boats it is faster, you'll get to Catalina and back in record time.
I got a spot on the GE for the 26th and it looks like I'll be going by myself unless my buddy can make it. Is there anyone going that I could tag along with?
Well the Newport Pier sounds like something fun to try....if it weren't for the fishermen. Something about being "the catch of the day" doesn't seem very appealing to me. But maybe one day I'll try it.
Guess Laguna Beach will still have to be the "local" dive spot.
