I just heard that he attempted to persuade more divers from Singapore to join his whale swim. One of them is my friend. And that annoys me...
Thanks mate! I really lol-ed over the PPB claim.
I tried diving in PPB but man, I can't stand the cold in the water and I'd rather save the money and dive in Bunaken or Raja Ampat or Layang Layang.
Can the typhoon return in October?
What I mean is - will typhoon conditions replicate themselves so quickly - a month - after a major event?
Philippines seems to be regularly hit by typhoons. 8 - 9 a year?
My old friend asked me to go with him to Cebu Philippines - in early October 2018. 5 - 10th to dive.
Because it was 2am in the morning, I agreed to it and quickly bought the ticket.
Next day, my family is wondering if I've gone off the deep end again because its Typhoon season. And there is a...
Would getting a Medium ensure a more snug fit?
The problem is there isn't one in the store. And they have to order it in.
I did try a Large in a different company wetsuit product. And while it was a good fit for the chest - there were air gaps in the neck, and arms.
Hi.
I'm a male diver after a new 5mm wetsuit (I'm in Melbourne, Australia). And i have a question about sizing and fitting.
My size measurements are 100cm chest, 95cm hips, 88cm waist.... (and in imperial - 39 inch chest, 37inch hips, and 34 inch waist). I'm a bit on the fat side at the moment...
Pardon me, but just out of morbid curiousity.
What is the maximum depth a diver can make while breathing air underwater before becoming crazy, unconscious and dying? What exactly happens physiologically when a diver descends too deep while breathing air?
I saw this infamous video on youtube of...
Hi,
I have a question about the treatment for near drowning victims.
If the victim has a near drowning experience or has swallowed a considerable amount of water, obviously sending the person to a hospital would be the next step to prevent secondary drowning / dry drowning.
But what if there...
Hello Lee Ann. How long did the boat search for the missing diver? I'm just curious what the procedure was and how it also impacted upon the rest of the trip. PM me if you prefer not to talk about it in public.
Thanks. I thought I made myself clear that it wasn't a panic situation and that the diver in question had simply be trapped under water for 40 minutes at 40Meters.
And I also thought I did mention that it was at a remote location - remote as in - no recompression chambers are anywhere nearby...

I'm just curious. That's why I ask.
I'm studying for my dive master course and I thought of a hypothetical situation where a diver had spent too long deep (breathing normal air) - 40m for 40minutes.
So he's slowly...
Maybe the diving helped to relax your back muscles?
This might sound crazy but amazing sex helped to cure my tight lower back muscles. I was suffering from seriously tight (true story) lower back problems.
I met this cute hot girl - and we had amazing sex for a month. My back problems were...
Yes, of course. But lets say the diver is competent. (He just got stuck somewhere… say a giant octopus dragged him down to 40M for awhile)
I'm just thinking of what's available on the dive boat that could possibly help him as he was doing his safety stop. Usually a boat would carry an 02...
RE: SAFETY STOP USING 02 or Nitrox.
Hi. I'm doing my Divemaster course and learning all about the wonderful world of gases etc..
Just then a thought struck me.
Hypothetical question - What if a diver had spent too long under the surface - lets say for example he spent 40 minutes at 40M. He...
I heard that there were some attempts to shut him down. But he still continues to operate and posts big billboards in the airport and hotels.
There has been legal action taken against Takashima in Tongan courts.
But its a Pacific Island, things move Tongan-style.
Hi,
I spent sometime in Tonga doing whale swims there - mainly in Eua and Ha'apai.
While I was there I received disturbing news of some whale swim operators - and problems when divers who pre-booked trips with them and face problems.
There was a notable Japanese national who was operating...
Its a new sport and a new frontier. Its worth remembering that all new entrants - esp those people who have risen quickly to affluence - aren't necessarily the social paragons we wish to see. It happens for all races - study history. Or better yet watch the famous Jacques Cousteau's first movie...
Thank you very much for your input. I will do the deep dive course cert.
Initially I thought that the DM coursework also certified you to do the deep dive or qualified you to do depths to 40M+. But that doesn't seem to be the case now.
The ferry is actually the best option - it only cost Pangai$20 about USD$10? and takes about 2 - 3 hours to get to Eua from Nuku'alofa's Queen Salote wharf.
The big ferry which is capable of carrying heavy trucks is better - the small one resembles a death trap but it will still get you there...
