    Farting in the big bathtub

I wonder, if you fart at depth, does the thermal benefits outweigh the use of Argon gas in your dry suit?

    Aeris Software transfer

I believe you need to create a new dive log. Once that is created, then you can import your old dives.

    Buddy Dive - bad attitude?

You are a smaller frame person and and more than likely have a few more dives than the OP and his buddy. congrats on using so little weight. I, on the other hand, am 6'3" and weigh 300lbs and use 22-24lbs in a full 3mm diving a steel hp100. When I dive a hooded 8 mil, I use 36lbs. Doesn't matter...

    Question about Integrated Air Computers

I've seen it happen on others. I use a wrist mounter XR2 and a SPG on one set of regs, and an analog console on my other reg setup. I like the simplicity of the computer, but also dive tables. Diving is not the safest sport, but it is about calculated risks.

    Cert. Agencies

Adding to this thread. I am SSI cert'd. I have taking classes through 2 different shops. The first one (that I got my c card through), had an outstanding instructor, who was also a tech diver. He taught everything by the book and then went in depth and gave us additional info. He touched on...

    Wetsuit considerations

Looks like a sweet deal. I'm not that familiar with that wetsuit, but for the money .. My only concern would be the 5 mil suit. How cold is the water around there? Do you plan on repetitive dives? Ask the shop where you will get certed at, what thickness do most of the divers around there wear...

Lost Dive Knife in La Jolla Shores =[

Guys, I just read this post. If you haven't already, join the divebums.com email list. There is always a posting of some article found while someone was out. A few weeks has passed and if you haven't recovered your item by now, the odds will be very slim.

    which reg is better

I started off with DIN and never looked back. I dive hp's mostly, and the two lp's I do have are fitted with the pro valve with the insert removed. I have traveled to other sites in the US, and the few times I used the DIN to yoke adaptor was not an issue. If you travel overseas you will see...

    Need a new wetsuit... Advice?

I have a xcel wetsuit with integrated hood for cold. I think it is 8/7/6.5. I do regular dives in the 50-55 deg range. I also have a tilos 3mil for warmer waters. Depends on what you are happy with. Different body shapes/ different manufacturers. Trying renting a few styles to see which works...

    Cold water and computers

Learn something new everyday. I primarily dive cold water here in SoCal. The temp tonight at 60' was 50-52 deg. I dive wet with a 8mil suit. I know if you're cold you will go through your air faster, but never thought about adding depth to the profile to compensate for temp.

    Ear infections a constant problem

I use the swimmers ear drops the most. I have had ear infections and what I did, was pour a capful of hydrogen peroxide into my ear and let it set for about 5 min. After about 2-3 hours pour some warm olive oil into my ears. No more ear aches! My parents used olive oil to help my ear aches as a...

    Cold water and computers

I have never added or been told to add depth for cold water, but if that somehow becomes a factor, a computer is able to take the environment (depth, time, temp, etc ..) into consideration for its profile.

Ear Problems and a Renewed Love of Diving

Kelley, Keep us posted on what the doc said. Every pence in awhile my inner ear will get sore. Seems like they might get swollen and not drain correctly. Funny thing is, it is sporadic, and going diving has actually helped.

"tech" rig for a new diver ?

I see nothing wrong with get a rig that can expand/grow with a diver (as long as it is a food fit). Also make sure they understand how to use any piece of equipment. So many divers, spend x amount of dollars on finding the rig that works from them, from bp/w to jacket bcd's. I don't necessarily...

    Confess your SCUBA sins

Let's see. Taught how to dive by a former SEAL and dove with out being certified for awhile. Did a solo dive to 100' on 9th dive after certification Don't always log my dives.
