Hey all, I am in the area on business but I will be able to get a dive in this afternoon if anyone would care to show me around and dive with me. I'll be checking this all day so if anyone is interested, drop me a line. I've been here since last weekend and I'm jonesing to go diving.:D

Travelling to Southern Florida need dive help

Just as the title states, I will be travelling to Southern Florida for work next month and I really need some dive help. I have been a Michigan diver for many years and have not done much travel. I will be down in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Ft Lauderdale from 11/26 - 12/04 and 12/10 -...

    Lake Fenton diving

I haven't been able to get out and dive since summer of 03 and I was just wondering if Lake Fenton was still accessible from the marina on the north shore? The last time I was there, the owner was talking of selling the place. I just wanted to make sure before I drove up there, so if anyone...

    Oceanic Hylite question

I recently acquired an older model Oceanic Hylite. It takes three C cells, twist on/off, clear one piece head. The light is in pretty good shape and it works but the reflector is in pretty rough shape. The reflector has about 5% of its finish left on it. Is there a source for these? Also...

Spring Straps for Dacor Pursuit Fins

The size of the spring will be directly related to the size of the users foot, with exposure protection on, in the fin foot pocket. There is not one size specified for each fin and foot size yet. Although maybe we should start a thread similar to Scubaroo's thread about DS boots. We can...

use a snorkel? and how to dump air

Take the snorkel, attach a funnel to the top of it and take it to the bar. It will get used much more this way than in the water. Now for dumping gas from your BC. I use my rear dump valve to dump gas. When horizontal, all I have to do is tilt head down and shift my butt up a little bit to...

    Straps for Jet Fins

The springs are superior to the original straps IMHO. I am curious as well, what kind of straps do you want to put on them? BTW Jonnythan, still one of the coolest signatures I have seen yet. Off topic I know, but still had to get it out.:D

    Source for Bolt Snaps

Those trigger clips are one style of suicide clips. Here is a full explination with pictures to go along with it. FWIW, I only use SS bolt snaps and I use the 1 1/8" snaps without problems. Your mileage may vary.

    Best Anti Fog Mask Goop

Johnsons Baby Shampoo is the best anti-fog I have ever used. Even better than my spit. One application, if done right, can last me for an entire day of diving.

    OMS bp

My buddy has an OMS plate that he likes well enough. The only complaint he had about it is that it came with a one inch crotch strap slot, as in not wide enough for two inch webbing. He had to take the plate to a friend in a shop and have him widen it. I don't know if they are offereing the...

Surface flotation for DIR harness idea

Sparky, where on your rig, do you put your weight? Also how much weight do you use/need? I have found that for rescue applications, my SS plate and SS STA work great with my Pioneer 27 even on smaller tanks. When I used an AL plate with a lightweight STA, I found that I would tend to be...

    NAUI MAX Depth???

I was wondering the same thing. I thought that weighting, bouyancy control and dive planning were things taught to every OW diver. I didn't think that these things were reserved for more advanced courses later on in diving. But then again, according to one of Karls earlier posts in a...

DIR training donating the Primary question?

After a quick search, I found this article on the CDC website regarding HIV transmission. Areas of note are the "How it is transmitted" , "HIV and the environment" and the "Kissing" sections. The section on kissing closely relates to the sharing of regulators and this thread IMO...

    Gauge, where to put everything

Alot of divers do it that way, it makes perfect sense. I have my SPG (brass) clipped off to my left side d-ring on my harness, my bottom timer goes on my right wrist and my compass on my left wrist. That way, most of my dive info is right at my fingertips and my SPG is only a clip away...

Best place to buy scuba gear online?

Welcome to the board. This thread should give you a good place to start. Is there any specific piece or pieces of gear that you are looking for? That may narrow the online shops down a bit. Happy hunting.:D

    wrist compasses--suggestions?

I picked up an SK-5 that was new in the box from a dive shop that was going out of business for something around $15-20. It was new-old stock from the shop that had been in the back for a long time. I added some shock cord wrist straps and have been using it since. It's just a basic reverse...
