Just an update here. I finally decided to get a Seadoo Supercharged as an initial investment. Reason why i did this is because its cheap and lightweight, superb for travel, and rated for 30 metres but tested to 35 metres.
Its only occasionally that I dive over 30 metres, so the Supercharged...
My two cents worth: Dont bother diving in Singapore. On a good day, 2 metres viz.... on a bad day, your guess is as good as mine.... Go Tioman, you won't regret it. LOB is good but costlier than diving in Tioman...
Wow, took my HID to its maiden dive in Sipadan. Its so damn bright that Canon's G9 camera refused to flash on a macro mode. No regrets about the HID.
Two weak points though. The HID does not give any warning about low battery and cuts out instantly when the juice runs out. Boy, it was damn...
You'll do fine. 30M and 40M not that much difference, except your reduced bottom time, air and extended safety stop. Current should not be an issue with your experience unless your 80 dives were in a bathtub...:D
