I was O/W certified by NAUI and I'm now a PADI MSDT with many dives and students under my belt. Along the way I've dove with divers, and Instructors, from damn near every agency on the earth. I have found one thing. The best divers are the ones that just go about their business diving and don't...

SCUBA REGULATOR TESTING EQUIPMENT - eBay (item 270417914879 end time Jul-09-09 11:28:06 PDT)
Worse thing I ever bought were the BCs and Regs in their first year on the market. I learned the hard way that some manufacturers won't do recalls unless ordered to by the Government and Warranties are crap.
I chose NAUI because the LDS was and the Instructor sounded like she knew what she was talking about. She did, and it possibly saved my life some years later. She said "as long as you don't panic you can get out of any situation while diving". I had an equipmet failure doing a bounce to hook up...
Let's take the last first. Your regs are 17 years old and still working good. I'd call that durable.
IMHO I beleive Jaw fatique is more related to a poor mouthpiece. I also never had that problem with my Sea2 reg set.
Travel can be a hassle if you want to take all your gear. There are smaller...
Had the same problem at a shop I worked at. We got the compressor tech to come in and go over the system. He fixed a few leaks in the compressor and that corrected it to about a 1% difference. So if I wanted a 32% fill I set the system at 33%. IMHO the Stick is just a leaky system and you have...
I have to reluctantly agree with you on an Ebay problem with purchasing regs. It's better if you're an experienced diver when making the purchase.
I just recently closed my repair shop which I had located in an LDS that sold and wanted to cut back on costs, me :shocked2: so I now do everything...
I have to disagree with Herman just a little. I sell new and used regs on Ebay. The new ones are tuned by me before being sent to the buyer. I also offer 2 years free service that includes parts and labor. So there are good buys out there for new equipment if you are not stuck on buying a "Name"...
Posted this under DIY thought it might do better here.
Anyone familiar with the NemRod Company that went out of business I believe in 2000?
I have a Tornado 1st and 2nd stage that so far I've been able to service using generic parts, but the filter on the 1st stage is unique in that it is...
Anyone familiar with the NemRod Company that went out of business I believe in 2000?
I have a Tornado 1st and 2nd stage that so far I've been able to service using generic parts, but the filter on the 1st stage is unique in that it is threaded to screw in. I can't find any new ones or anything...
Looking throuh the Board and saw this thread. Boy, did it take me back. I did my first dive (resort)in Barbados in 1991. Immediately upon my return home I ran to the LDS and signed up for O/W training. The rest is history. :-)
Don't remember the dive op, but it did a good job training me in the...
I've been diving with SouthPoint for well over 15years. The walk from the parking lot is far less than a football field, but skipping that error the shop has always had their own cart to carry divers' persoanl equipment when needed. All you have to do is ask, and they'll even help you with a smile.
I hope I'm doing this quote thing right. I'm more a diver than a web guy.
Anyway I have to agree with trtldvr. Over the years the costs of running a dive boat in Key West have greatly increased. What hasn't gone up is the cost of paying someone to work on the boats. It's the only cost that...
I took the tour yesterday and it brought back memories of my short stint in the Navy, and reminded me that was 35+ years ago. I can't wait to see it again weightless and with fins, instead of heavy and wearing steel toe boots. :-)
This ship is so huge it will take me years to get below 100 feet.
I've been working on and selling regulators for over 11 years now. I've had a few regulators from major manufacturers that would continuosly free flow or breathe "crappy". In the 5 cases I couldn't fix and sent back to the factory it turned out to be a defect that the "Major" manufacturer didn't...
It is a rating that you receive after you have acheived a certain level of training.
Prerequisites
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
PADI Rescue Diver or Junior Rescue Diver (or qualifying certification from another training...
The answer is very simple. The Sport Chalet, as the employer of the Instructor that is no longer certified to teach, is responsible for covering any additional costs to fully certify you.
Jim, I look forward to seeing your divers, with their SEI Cards, down here in the Keys. The shop I'm with is NAUI, SSI, and PADI. We welcome divers from every agency.
