Your right..I shouldn't base my opinion on just two dives. We did do a wreck (tug?) on the way to the island that was nice, the second was supposed to be a spot for Mobulas but they were not cooperative. Our short stop at their lunch spot on the Isla was amazing, I wish we would have had more...

Excellent! That canyon sounds pretty cool. I agree those Jacks are a mind bender..never have seen anything like it! LP diving was just ok..it seemed devoid of life compared to CP. The island of Espiritu Santo is beautiful though and worth a trip (next time we will stay and camp overnight) but...

How was the diving outside of the park? Notice a drop in life? I went for the first time last year...so much cheaper and convenient from the BA than Yucatan.The 3hr ns flight can't be beat, we had a great time and then did a day of diving in La Paz ( looong boat ride) and got to swim...

Bill I can't answer the question either, but I can relate to your training issues.I was certified in 89 and I have not moved past the OW/Nitrox training because I have not been able to find a local (BA) instructor that I feel would actually teach me something. I don't want the PADI pick 5 BS...

You won't miss much and It's really not "all that". Lots of other swim-thru's with better stuff to see..

I disagree..spend the first few days on the house reef, but no reason to not get out and see others. There are plenty of sites with easy entries and there really is no lugging gear involved. (except on your back) You will love it!!

I used Abyss..Dave the owner is outstanding. If you go CI, I would get an EARLY start, the hordes of busses show up at 11:00 or so. I stayed overnight here to be there early! El Hotel - Hotel Oka'an - Chichen Itzá - mexico and we had the place to ourselves! We wish we would have stayed...

It's a whole new world here, but on a good day can be fantastic! It is definitely more gear intensive, but the kelp forests are georgeous...

Steven, I can't help with the difference..but the best way to find a mask is to try it on in person and make sure it fits correctly. I prefer a low volume, frameless style..but everyone has a preference.
