    Key West recommendations

Thank you all for great input and recommendations! Looks like my wife will be going along and another friend will join us. Sounds like the 2 tank dive on the Vandy is the way to go.

    Key West recommendations

I have a 5 day trip to Key West the 23rd of this month. I've researched Dive Shops and some sites that have mixed reviews, most of which are not current. Looking for input on who you would dive with again, are there any shore dives to be done and what site you may have liked the best. I like...

    Dominica Comparison

I was in Dominica last month and made a post the time. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/lesser-antilles/217656-trip-report-dominica-2008-a-2.html I was in Nassau earlier, diving is great at both places. The service was slow in Dominica, good in Nassau. The docks by main street in Roseau...

    A question for SSIGuy...

I competed my "Open Water" certification in October of 07 through SSI here in Nebraska. We practiced the "Free Flowing Procedures" till we were comfortable doing it. One of the things I learned about the SSI program was the latitude the Instructor has to teach extra skills beyond the minimums...

    Trip Report - Dominica 2008

The hike up to the gorge is maybe a 10 or 15 minute easy walk. The water is refreshing and the swim is great providing an interesting view. I took my "Reefmaster" underwater camera with me not knowing what to expect. There is not a lot of light in the gorge so you would need a flash, external...

    Trip Report - Dominica 2008

Currently I'm sitting here in Dominica at the Ft. Young hotel in the warm sun reflecting on a great week of diving. The weather has been mostly sunny with occasional showers that lasted only a short time. We're told the island gets 360 days of rain here on the mountain so water isn't an issue...

    Aqualung Solafx 8 MM w/hood

My local dive shop just started carrying the Aqualung Solafx 8 MM wetsuit with an inner 1mm skin over the neck and an 8 mm attached hood. It's labeled as a 8/7 mm and has a zipper across the chest (does this make it easier to get in and out of ?). I am looking for a wetsuit for colder water, say...

    Going to Puerto Vallarta

The first time I went diving in PY three weeks ago I dove with Chico's Dive shop located on the Malecon. They were OK and the DM was good. I was the only one diving, the rest of the folks snorkeled. We went to Los Arcos on a pontoon type boat, about a 30 minute trip. I just returned from five...

    Suunto mystery

Just dove Los Arcos in Puerto Vallarta today and my Cobra computer worked fine. Checked it after I landed two days ago and it appeared to boot up correctly with no problems. Cabin pressure for the 3:16 hour trip was 6500ft. I know where to carry it in the future.

    Suunto mystery

Thanks for the insightful information. I have several trips coming up to Mexico and Dominica I plan on taking my equipment along on. Except on these trips my computer will ride up front with me and see how it behaves. On the Dominica trip there will be two other Cobra computers on board. It will...

    Suunto mystery

Actually all Citations, some Learjets and Falcons external loading. They are easier to load as well. Still trying to figure out how to get someone else to load them for me. :)

    Suunto mystery

A little back ground concerning my Suunto Cobra. I'm a corporate pilot flying private jets for a living (I know tough duty). After completing my OW in October I decided to purchase my own equipment which included a Suunto cobra and compass with a quick disconnect. On a recent trip to the Bahamas...

    Getting Started

Thanks for the great ideas. Our local Dive shop puts together some trips to Missouri and South Dakota that are four day trips we want to do. Come spring there will be more opportunity to look for areas close to home. For now I will try to find hookup with people in warmer climates while out on...

    Getting Started

Just got certified in Oct. with my daughter who needed it for her IR&R program in college. Always thought it would be fun to learn scuba diving and finally got around to taking the classes. Didn't realize how addicting it would be. I am excited to learn new skills and try different dives. To...
