Is nitrox worth it for deeper rec dives?

An interesting thought is that O2 clean is only as good as the last fill. If the fill is not Oxygen Compatible air the tank is not O2 Clean. If the tank has been filled somewhere that the partial pressure blender isn’t familiar with and trusts the air they use can, with good reason, refuse to...

What is your favorite BC harness 'Weight Pocket System'?

I prefer the rip cord systems, Zeagle and DUI and possibly others. They have very secure release systems that are easy to operate and almost never loose weights accidentally like the buckle and Velcro systems do.

    Dive Computer Buddy?

No. As long as the computer is supported it just requires a new cable.

    Zeagle Express Tech for sidemount?

I have a sidemount rig but it is just to bulky for the airline and cruise ship travel that I needed one for. The modified ET worked well for what I needed it for and fit into the travel space requirements I had. I was able to get my whole sidemount rig except for my fins in one carry on.

    Zeagle Express Tech for sidemount?

I adapted my ET with the 24# wing for sidemount in warn water and it worked fairly well for warm water. I borrowed some things from my sidemount rig and added and changed some things on the ET. I think the biggest thing is keeping the wing pulled down towards the sides at the bottom so it does...

What was the best training you ever did?

SIDEMOUNT. Pushed my skills and task loading abilities. Donning and doffing tanks underwater, keeping track of gas, stowing and deploying hoses,

Trips when divers aren’t ready/equipped for them

Just out of curiosity who are you chartering with? I have been to the Straits several times with different operators, some better than others. The wrecks are well worth diving. The Eber Ward is great and the Cedarville is huge.

Question about nitrox/air on two-tank dives

Generally 1st dive Nitrox, within MOD, second dive air. Deeper dives load more Nitrogen so Nitrox will lower your Nitrogen load and shorten you SI time.

Scubapro/Faber LP 75.8 Chromemoly Steel Tanks

Most if not all current LP steel tanks are at their rated volume with the 10% plus rating not their rated working pressure.

    Apeks DST - several generations?

You can get an adapter/converter that converts 1/2” LP ports to the standard 3/8” LP ports. Dive Gear Express in the US sells them. I would assume they are available in Europe somewhere. There is also an Apeks part that will add a 5th LP port on the end of the turret by replacing the turret bolt.

    Apeks DST - several generations?

Apeks has designated their 2nd stages XTX, ATX, TX, Flight and whatever the new MTX second is, there are several variations of most of the second stages. Their 1st’s are the UST, DST, DS4, US4, MTX and Flight. Which 1st is paired with which second is a little confusing to me but the designation...

    Tank valve knob lock?

I did have tank valve get turned off by my drysuit hose once. Was diving wet and wrapped the DS hose around the valve. It seems everybody time I looked up it pushed the hose which turned the valve off a little each time. Eventually the valve closed causing an OOA situation. Switched to pony and...

    Drysuit wrist seal question

Water based personal lubricant, KY. Wipe a little bit around the inside each wrist seal when donning, hands slide right in. Wipe some on the end of the outside of the seal and around the side and back of the hand, hand slides right out. If it sticks add some more lube.

    Safe second stage

I believe Atomic and Scubpro use different inflator hose connections. There are three or four different connectors for “Safe Seconds.”

DM5 registering the 2nd dive of the day much deeper than it was

Why do people still try to use Sunnto software. It is some of the worst software written. The other side of this is why does Sunnto keep putting out such awful software. If their computers were as bad as their software they would be out of business because of the lawsuits.

It appears that the clv 1st is not a turret style 1st which is not optimal for sidemount regulators.

    How to fill my tank

That is a general purpose separator for low pressure home compressors. It will self destruct before the pressure gets close to 3000psi. It does not filter our CO, fine oil mist, hydrocarbons from oil entering the cylinders. As others have said return the compressor. If you do decide to use it...
