I looked under "F" when it was under "C". Thanks.

    Voit Trieste II

Hello. No wonder you love it. The Trieste II is off the charts for both the coolness quotient and the fun factor. This thread gives a description of the Trieste. The only difference between it and a Trieste II were the mouthpiece shape and the color of the label...

Where can I get a Falmouth Spring map?

Hello. Does anyone know where I can get a map of Falmouth spring? It is located in north Florida. I have looked at the NACD and NSS-CDS web sites and didn't see that spring listed among their maps. Thanks. http://www.tfn.net/Springs/Falmouth.htm

First BC - Jacket or Wing

Well, I'll be diving this weekend with a back plate and wings on my twin 100's. And I'll also dive with a "less than optimum" horse collar on a single 72 with a double hose regulator. It'll be Big Fun in Florida. I enjoy the heck out of diving.

First BC - Jacket or Wing

I've got a bunch of different types of BC's. They are CHEAP off ebay. I've got a mae west, a horse collar with manual inflation, another with an auto inflator, a stab jacket, a "wrap around" jacket, two different single tank wings and a backplate and wings for my doubles. Not to mention my...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

So, at the start of the dive you have 5 pounds of air shifting around. It's still easier to roll in a stab jacket. Your reasoning is that if the wings BC has no air in it then it does not impede a roll. This is true.

First BC - Jacket or Wing

I think that this is an off the cuff remark made in order avoid admitting that a wings BC could actually have an inherent limitation. Any discussion of the function of a BC has to assume that it will have some air in it. And if there is air in a wings BC, it is not the optimum configuration...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

Think about a diver making a roll to the right while wearing wings. 1. At 90-degrees all the air flows to the left wing. 2. At 180-degrees (on your back) part of the air will flow back to the right. 3. At 270-degrees all the air is in the right wing. 4. At 360-degrees part of the air flows...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

Am I justifyng a jacket, or are you justifying your wings? I think that you missed the point. I HAVE both wings and a jacket. They are both OK and I don't plan on getting rid of either. For swimming along the bottom while looking for sharks teeth at Venice Beach, the wings are great. It gets the...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

This might be a good configuration for caving that is mostly dry (or chest deep) but also involves traversing short sumps. It would beat dragging a single heavy tank. No, I have not. The donut wing sounds interesting, though. It allows a free movement of air (also the concept of a...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

The Scubapro stab-jacket is the finest BC jacket (in my opinion). It has continuous bladder that lets the air flow from any position. It was patented so the other manufactures had to make jackets that didn't offer as much freedom of movement. Unless a jacket is substantially inflated, it...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

Naturally we are discussing a BC with some air in it. If the BC didn't have air in it then the question is moot. You could be wearing a horse collar, a jacket, or wings and none of them would have an effect. But, picture a wings BC with some air in it. The wings are held up. To roll over to...

First BC - Jacket or Wing

The thing is, I HAVE wings BC's. One for my twin 100 tanks, and a Scubapro and a SeaTek for single tanks. For the twin tanks, there is no other way to go. But for the singles, having dived with the wings, I like my Scubapro stab-jacket best. It is more maneuverable. I can roll from side to side...

    Seibe Gorman Twin hose Query

See attached for before and after photos. I used a Sharpie permanent marker for the lettering. I used model paint to fill in the missing label. The blue matched out of the bottle. I had to mix white and yellow to get the right shade for the rest of it. It's not perfect, but it's an improvement...

    Seibe Gorman Twin hose Query

Hello, I finally received my ebay-purchased Siebe Gorman Mistral (see attached) in the mail from Cornwall, England. Now I can see what you are talking about. First, the unscrew the big yoke nut and remove the yoke. That will let you get at the little brass retainer ring. You should be able to...

please tell me your fav bc & why

This a nice BC with a number of features: an auto-inflator, a dump valve with the pull cord integrated into the inflator hose, an over expansion relief valve, a big pocket, and a CO2 inflator. The bright orange color makes it very photogenic.

    Avatar problems.

I see that I can add a "pre-defined" avatar, but to upload a custom avatar from my machine it seems that I need assistance from the Administrator. **** Oops. I just saw that there is a "Request Avatar" forum. That answers my question.
