    The oldest new diver?

She says you get old because you quit, not that you quit because we get old. Amen Hey guys are you G.O.D.S? Look at the Grumpy Old Divers posts!

    Military Members Roll Call

Dual Reef Rover here. Macdill and Kadena. USAF E-1 (1964) to E-5 & O-1 to O-3 (retired 1/2/90) then I gave up trying to straighten out the O corps--they didn't appreciate it anyway... Started diving at MacDill (Tampa) in '65. A Viet Nam era vet who never got shot at, go figure.

    Sea Hunt

So in '65 I'm learning with the MacDill Reef Rovers and it's "Never, ever dive alone." But what about my hero Mike? Later, I had that question every time I'd get a student who was a fan (20 UICC & NAUI #2287). Never had a better anwer than "What if you get entangled?" Os

    Sea Hunt

Hi, I love the 'vintage' diver label. See our Grumpy Old Divers (GODs) thread:D Meanwhile, I grew up on Sea Hunt, as a kid it was 'adventure of the week' and Mike was a hero with no (very 50-60s) faults showing. Gear was state of the art, I learned on double hose! The swimming with hands is...

Does anybody still support Nikonos original?

OLY I thought long and hard about digital. Not diving enough right now to make housing a good investment. Maybe when kids are off payroll and I'm somewhere warm 6 months out of 12 %^)

    Help me to avoid Jamaica!

There's a reason you don't see Jamaica in the dive mags! I went 20-years ago-apparently nothings changed. Cozumel was really good. I don't rate it great as Okinawa and Palawan (PI) blow it away. OTOH-people in Cozumel were great - more gringo friendly than my conservative Okinawan friends...

Update to Diving in Puerto Rico w/pictures

I have had the same experience as Matteo in other places. Now I will not rely on some middle 'man' who isn't directly employed by the dive service. Seems many of the low level people in the travel business aren't compensated well enough and they feel a need to rake off a few bucks. basically...

First time in Cozumel, sort of.....

My experience parallels ggunn's you get a discount from the hotel, dive shop etc. with tchecks versus ccards. I used Hotel Cozumel and Paradise divers. Have fun. Easy onteh Tequila %^)

Does anybody still support Nikonos original?

Calling all old photo gear heads. Recently PufferFish recommended I keep my old old Nikonos original as an artifact of my longevity. Today while choking on the price of housings - lucky to dive one week a year - thought maybe I ought to just get some o rings and a hot strobe and use the old...

    50+ year old divers

Hi, It's great to find someone who can testify about diving Puerto Rico. I've been diving since 1965 (LA County and NAUI Instuctor '71) all around Tampa, St Pete., Fla Caves and Springs. Been to Jamaica and BVI but find little other than business promotions about diving in Puerto Rico...

    50+ year old divers

Hi, Would you share your thinking about retiring to the VI? I've been to Virgin Gorda, BVI and loved it (~'98). I'd guess you are in the USVI. I just returned from a cruise from LA - Puerto Vallarta (PV), - Mazatlan & Cabo. Got to dive at PV-was fun -a lot like S. California but warmer...
