Question Which one D620 or D630?

Hi I am looking to replace my current can light (2800 lumens) and like the look of these lights. I don't cave dive but do wall dives and wreck dives in the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes. When I checked out the videos of these lights on the Orcatech website I was confused by what I saw. 4000...

    Diving Kingston Wrecks - Visibility?

Haven't been on the Wolfe lately, but dove the Munsen last Wednesday. It was blowing hard, surface current and bottom current flowing in opposite directions, and vis was about 6 feet with no light. With my can light (2800 lumens) I had good vis and no particulate in the water to spoil the beam...

    Is DAN membership worthless?

[ DAN is useful in Canada too. Back in 1990s we were involved in a missing diver search at the Arabia site up at Tobermory. One of the searchers lost his weight belt during deco and corked. At the Tobermory chamber, the first thing he was asked for, before the precautionary treatment run, was...

What Exactly Did I Just Get? 1950s twinset

Had a set of these when i first started out in the late 70s in the UK. Mine came with 2 pillar valves and a single outlet "cheater bar". They even had USAF stamped on the neck with the hydro details also "born" in 1954. When I picked them up I was told they were "twin 56" cylinders. The bands...

Crane Day 2020 - Tobermory, Ontario, Canada - 4K Time lapse

My original message to the park..... "HI, I hear that the Marine Park will be open starting June 1st 2020. Is diving permitted? Will I still be able to buy a diver permit and boat permit for my RIB so that we can moor to the wreck buoys as we have done in previous years. It is a personal use...

    Oh oh... DAN in Quebec

I got this email today... Feb. 12 at 9:20 p.m. To: Dear Norman, Recently you may have heard that DAN dive accident insurance plans are currently unavailable in Quebec. Unfortunately, this true. While we work to reinstate coverage to address this issue, it is important that you know where...

    Oh oh... DAN in Quebec

FQAS was around long before the chief coroner came up with the diver permit recommendations. It had functioned in a similar manner to OUC in Ontario. The provincial police refused to enforce the recommendations so it was offered to the FQAS. Up till that time the FQAS had enjoyed some funding...

Downloading picture from a DC1400 to a Tablet

I didn't get the tablet to use for editing or storing my pictures, although with a 128 Gig micro SD card installed I don't think that storage would be a problem. I use my laptop for editing. The downside to a 17.3 inch laptop as that it is a beast to carry when travelling. With the setup I have...

Downloading picture from a DC1400 to a Tablet

I tried to use the cable that came with the camera. I put a mini USB adaper to the standard end to fit the tablet and everything worked. I do have a laptop but I thought that the tablet would be much easier for travelling to look at the pictures on the day that they are taken. We have Nikon...

What is the ideal size RIB for scuba diving?......

Nice looking boat! Since we got the RIB we cracked and got an Anderson custom Stainless Steel telescoping, folding ladder to make it easier for the wife to climb in, as the tubes are higher out of the water than the tubes on our old inflatable. We are having a blast with our boat, hope you get...

    US Divers Aquarius

We have a few of these.....We have used them as a dry suit inflator and tire inflator....as a regulator, I wouldn't use it for a pool reg. All feels well when you breathe them in a relaxed setting, but in a srong current , it is like breathing through a straw... just my 2 cents.

    Adjusting manifold

It looks like one of the old style OMS style manifolds with end capture O rings. The lock nuts must be tight in order to get a seal between the barrel and the O ring on the valve. If you leave it loose it will leak. It works differently from the barrel style double or triple O rings on the...
