Bohol vs. Sogod vs. Malapascua vs. Moalboal??

My head is spinning and I could use a little help. We are flying to Cebu on Feb. 12th, and can't decide where to go for the week. Thanks to all of you and your excellent info (special thanks to Fuggler for your PG report)... we spent a week at El Galleon/Asia Divers in Dec. and had an...

How did Santa treat you for Christmas?

My excellent husband got me the "pig-sticker" Tusa knife i've always wanted, so I can strap it to my my thigh, and feel like a real Bond Girl. Bungee straps for my yum-yum-yellow Force Fins. AND....We're going to Roatan in Feb. He is the best dive buddy and husband around. Sometimes it pays...

    Cozumel on a budget

We have stayed at the Vista Del Mar several times and love it. If you don't mind the cruise ship shoppers (easily avoided by spending most of your time underwater), they have nice, clean and comfortable ocean view rooms, good showers, mini fridge, a very friendly staff, and some yummy rolls...

    Every sport has its injuries

Severe dry land syndrome. Crying leads to puffy eyes....dry, sensitive skin is much more prone to rashes, and salt water irritation when not immersed at proper intervals. Poor feet get too used to dry socks, and then a week in the booties and fins turns them into mush. Take me to the river...

How long after having a child was it before you dived again?

my sister-in-law is pregnant now, and missed out on diving during our May Coz. trip. We suggested she name her son SI ...as in surface interval. At least it would make a cool middle name ;)

    Mask clearing

A couple of weeks ago in the quarry... my hood was driving me crazy, filling up with air and pullling my mask out of place. I decided to ditch the hood, so my buddy hung on to me while I removed the mask, remembered to take a good breath, took my reg out, and yanked off the offending hood. Reg...

Persuading my wife to take Rescue diver course

I am with the rest of the women here... the class is excellent. I was also the only female (I'm not tiny..5'9"), but my male victims were all larger and heavier than me. My instructor was very helpful.. giving me advice on how to drag... lift and tow them using whatever worked for me. I'm...

    Why your Avatar?

I love the Mr. Furious pose... I strike it often! Screen name is my first initial + the first 4 letters of my last name. Not clever.. but it does spell DOVE. Avitar is the only one I have figured out how to upload so far.... my fav. pics need to be downsized to fit. Just keep breathing...

Whenever I surface I have to blow my nose

I always thought the post-dive snot rockets were part of the sport... who can blow the biggest? the farthest? Can you do it in a stealthy way, so it goes unnoticed? (bonus points for that) I actually thought about it..once... before submerging my head to clear the nose... can the other divers...

Tropical Diving with or without wetsuits?

"I just recently started diving with just board shorts" Beware the thimble-jelly-in-the-pants with a pair of these..... up one leg and then out the other. Yikes! And there really is NO good way to signal your buddy about what is happening to your junk.
