As many of you know, there have been some faulty Azimuth scrubbers.
Instead of solid welds all around they have spot welded, allowing for CO2 pass unfiltered.
This is dangerous and can lead to a CO2 hit!
The distributor has just posted a pdf with recall info.

Now that DEMA has come and gone I thought I'll ask a few questions about the PRISM 2. :D
Mostly they'll center around similarities and differences to the well known PRISM Topaz.
Those of you who're intrested but don't know the Topaz, I wrote a little article about the unit that explains it...
After 18 years in SoCal it's time to pack and head back to Germany.
I want to thanks all of you that I've met, in Santa Barbara, L.A. and O.C.,
for making this a home hard to leave.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July and take care of yourselves.
:) Stefan
An Ouroboros CCR, serial number 27, was stolen in a burglary in the UK today.
If anyone comes across it e-bays or elasewhere please make some noise here.
There were plenty more items, if I can get serial numbers I'll add them.
TIA

A friend of mine has been diving with and filming the large Humboldt Squids (150 lbs +) in the Sea of Cortez.
Using a PRISM CCR that doesn't spook the animals he's gotten some amazing footage.
When filming they're attached to the boat by steel ropes so the squids can't drag them down,

Issue 6 of X-ray mag features a rebreather article (pdf file) .
This section also covers cameras and housings as well as Connemara in Ireland.
X-ray mag can either be downloaded in one complete file or several section.
Janwillem just posted his report from the German BOOT2005 tradeshow at
Rebreathers Worlwide :D
It has updates on the Evolution and Vision electronics package, several European SCRs as well as some pictures of the new Aqualung Mistral twin hose regulator (OC).
He also added an advanced...
Aqualung has introduced the Mistral Twin Hose regulator at the "BOOT" show in Germany. It's CE certified and offered for 760 Euros. The exhaust is behind the diver which should make it attractive to photographers and filmers
(which is the reason to post it here rather than the gear forum).
I wasn't quite sure where to post this link, as it doesn't seem to fit exactly into any forum. But since the ship will be preserved, spend much of its time in support of ecosystems and preservation and the article states "Once restored, Calypso will become an exhibit and a center for science...
Most of my reports and pictures from DEMA 2004 are now online.
There will be a bit more to come as I had some follow up with exhibitors to take care of.
Thanks to Janwillem for hosting the reports.

Somehow my Scubaboard is out of whack.
Parts of the page are shifted sideways ... can't figure out why.
Haven't had a program or the computer crash, didn't change any settings on either my user cp or my browser (Explorer 5.1.4 for Mac).
Any suggestions?

A while ago Dräger increased scrubber times for both Dolphin and Ray, from 3hrs. to 4hrs. and 70min. to 110 min. respectively.
For Europe and Egypt only, though.
Which I find rather odd as that covers anything from icy waters to quite warm ones, and both US and AUS waters should be somewhere...
