    YMCA cert?

I have my own opinions about other organizations... but for the sake of not arguing I refuse to tell some one one is better than the other. I do agree that the level of training and the quality can vary greatly with each.... I have done a fair amount of research on the more main stream...

Should a C-Card be Required to Buy Gear?

hmmm last I knew you had to have a c-card to get an air fill or rent a tank... isnt that restrictive enough to keep most non cert out of the water? Without air, how else will one breath submerged?

    Is "group" diving common?

My bf had to rescue- actually do an emergency ascent- with a poor girl who had brushed up against a wall and was free flowing. No air at all to her and she was turning blue. She wasnt even part of their dive group... another group had left this complete newbie behind. If he hadnt have found her...

    YMCA cert?

YMCA has a good reputation. A lot of the training reguardless of the organization actually depends on the instructor though. I would suggest to go and visit some facilities that offer training and decide from there what is going to be the best for you. Tricia

Some basic questions for a new diver...

Welcome to the board. Personally I would not recommend getting gear from Ebay. You never really know what you are getting on there. Considering your gear is actually your lifesupport underwater, I would not get anything but good quality, well fitting and properly working equipment. Once you have...

    Anyone from Michigan?!

Hey I'm in Flint! Yeah actually I have been looking for a buddy locally. I don't get my certification done until mid May though. Where do you dive locally and are there any restriction on any of the inland lakes around here? I'm looking to go to some places where I can go out in the morning...

Unfortunately... or fortunately for all of you, I too have had some fairly recent episodes with trying on dive gear.... Lemme see... Time to give up smoking!

Good Luck on your quitting. I too am once again working on that. It is a struggle. Stupid of me. I thought I could handle smoking one pack and stoppping again... didn't work so well. :< My problem is that I needed to find another way to relieve stress.. Exercise does help a lot. So now I got to...

    Wannabe diver from Arizona ...

Very cool! have the same agenda pretty much. Got my classroom work done, doing the small trip to west palm for check outs... then plan on doing local dives here. and then by the time I do Cozumel in the fall, I should have a fair amount of dives in for a newbie. I am so geeked as I am sure you...
