I'm looking into a late July Channel Islands trip. Any idea what kind of exposure protection I need? I was thinking 7mm, hood (or at least beanie) and gloves. I'm a Caribbean diver mostly, and I wear a 5mm in mid to high 70s water.

My son is now Jr OW Certified! He did great today on his dives, and passed the test with a 94%! Further, we had some amazing dives today...Columbia Wall and San Francisco. Incredible. Thanks to Blue XT Sea. Now to work on my wife...she's weakening ;-)

On a very positive note, it sounds like Christi (amazing person that she is) has arranged for one of her instructors to do my kid's certification. My son is so excited, and hopefully we'll have another Cozumel regular diver soon!

So, we are leaving for Coz on Saturday, and I have four days of diving booked with BlueXTSea (Sunday, Tue, Wed, and Thu). This lets me stay married to my non-diving spouse, who wants to do a beach trip on Monday and a trip to PDC on Friday. Here's the rub. My 14 year old son wants to finish...

PS: This is not the same as using one of my available weeks. Palace runs a promotion each year where they encourage current members to have other people try out the Palace, so they allow people to book using our member number. We are limited to two such weeks per year, and last year Coz Palace...

I am a Palace member and have done this for ScubaBoarders. If anyone wants a week, let me know. I have up to two to offer this year at member price. I won't charge any premium, because Palace has a nice deal for us if people book through us anyway. It's a win/win. :-)

I don't think a cenote is necessarily a good choice for a newly certified diver. You MUST have good buoyancy control, and while you can usually see some light, it IS an overhead environment. Bad buoyancy will just kick up silt and possibly damage the caverns. I did do a cenote relatively...

We had 30" on Saturday, and now in the midst of another blizzard. They are expecting another total of 20" and they keep extending the end time of the blizzard warning. I love snow, but this sucks.

Not sure whether to put this into the March or April thread, but I'll be there March 27th through April 3rd, staying at Coz Palace, and diving with BlueXTSea (at least that's the plan).

I felt good with a 5 pretty much the whole time, although some were wearing hoods. My computer was consistently reading 75 two weeks ago, as was the DM's computer. A fellow diver's Suunto was reading 78.
