I am the BSAC equivalent of a DM (and it's not commercial). I have no real interest in being a DM and even less in being an instructor however my club is all volunteer (the training is free, just pay for instructor's costs like their boat dives and fills) and given I have been given a lot of...
Obviously. But practicing mouth to mouth doesn't require that choice, only doing it in real life. You can use barriers in practice.
Blue Sparkle, in my cave class we had to do a lot of buddy breathing but other than that it has not been an issue really (I did have to donate air to an OOA diver...
I am more worried about herpes and other diseases you can get from mouth to mouth contact (unlike HIV). I am uncomfortable sharing regulators for that reason (other than with my boyfriend of course!) I would not do mouth to mouth in a class.
Oh please, don't flatter yourself.
OW was probably the hardest. I was not very well suited to diving and found it very hard to do anything. My buoyancy was terrible, I hated having my mask off (and nearly couldn't do it at all so I guess I nearly failed), and in general was very uncomfortable. I don't actually know why I...
I made a start in finding out information by buying a book on shore diving for my local area. There is a lot of information lacking so I have been adding to what I found ever since.
You can also google the names of dive sites and find out information that way.
A good site for your local area...
Hi Jim
I already asked them if there was an option for cheaper shipping (any type of shipping, I know DSS and DiveTub for example, havebeen quite flexible about what type of shipping they have sent dive gear over depending on what I have asked for) but they said nothing they can do.
I will PM...
They've doubled the shipping price too I noticed recently. I emailed them to ask about cheaper shipping options (I was looking at $90 shipping for an item weighing 3lb to Australia) and they said they have no choice due to UPS shipping rates...
Yes you can have yoke regs on a twin set up. Whether or not that is a good idea is another story. Personally I would only buy DIN regs now (my singles reg is a yoke but not my doubles regs or my stage regs).
If you are getting into tech diving, the cost of converting your yoke reg to DIN reg is...
A dive buddy of mine has one so when I haved with her she has brought it on the boat. I think it is a good idea. Our club has attempted to get grants to fund one but so far no luck (though we've managed to get other safety gear such as first aid kit, O2 kit, etc).
The no deco tables was trained with to 50m and I was taught decompression diving to 35m in the AOW equivalent from the agency I did most of my training with...
Personally I don't care how tech diving is classified, but around the world there are vastly differing ideas of what is technical...
Yes she said it was about 50% in Australia. If for some reason I am no longer CMV negative do they tell you at the blood donation? Or do you just ask each time you go?
Oh yes me too :) A nurse told me a few donations ago when I was asking what the blood is tested for and so on. She says they don't test all blood for CMV though.
Here in Australia if you have been to Mexico (anywhere in Mexico) you are banned from full blood donations for three months but they will accept plasma. I only found this on my second donation after I went to Mexico this year when the nurse told me that even though I did a full blood donation...
In my experience, tonnes of people are mean/arrogant/snarky here. In that thread there were comments (especially from DevonDiver, which is unusual as he is usually very friendly and helpful, though everyone has their off days including myself) that could easily be taken as snarky. It was just a...
