A great place to go diving in the winter time in the midwest (if you don't mind cold water) is Philips Quarry in Muncie, IN. They're open year round and have ice on the lake only about 4 weeks out of the year, at worst. I was there diving Feb 27th and 28th, 2012. Visibility was 15ft at worst...

Thank you all for advice...that's mainly what I was looking for, size of bungee and where to get it. I've also seen some wings restricted with surgical latex tubing, I just wasn't sure what size and where to buy it. It looks like hardware store carry surgical tubing, I just have not checked...

Bummer. From the surface it looked like at least 10ft of vis. I'm about two hours from there. I'll do at least one dive just to satisfy my curiosity. I'll post my finds soon.

HI, Any advice on how to restriction-band a wing? Specifically what type of cord to use (latex tubing etc.)...where can I buy such a cord? how tightly should the cord be wrapped around the wing? Any advice will be appreciated. -martin

it looks like it's been a few months since the last response to this post. To answer the original question about interesting places to dive, Lake Wazee in Black River Falls is deep, crystal clear most of the time but very cold. Great place for practice dives. Then there Red Granite quarry...
