I'm looking for 1 (i.e. single) SP Twin Jet closed-heel fin, black, size 13-14. Dove the Spiegel Grove in 2.5-3 kt current and one of my fins shot off my hand climbing up the ladder. No chance catching it.
So I have 1 Twin Jet looking for a new mate. Open to buying a used pair at right price...
Indeed. We have seen many reports in the news about Sudden Cardiac Death which strikes many healthy, young, fit athletes in their prime. My wife's brother in law, a former US Marine in his late 20's died in his sleep one night from it. The doctors at Emory's Cardiac center said that one of...
Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Pirate's Point for dinner one... or a couple of nights. Ridiculously good. Awesome people and you never know who you'll see sitting at a table next to yours.
I'm not a conch expert but I believe this pile we found in South Sound off Owen Island on Little Cayman was engaged in mating. I've never seen that many conchs on a single snorkel swim. Conchs and starfish by the hundreds.
There were several reviews and comments from experts on Brac and in Cayman about the ecological impact back when this "idea" was first hatched a year or two back. I think most people assumed that given the insanity of the idea, it just went away. And in typical politician fashion, they waited...
I'm quite sure Mr. Dilbert's complaining was accompanied by a nice contribution to certain politicians' favorite charities. Like their own bank accounts.
I read this on CNS yesterday and even posted my two cents in the comments section. It's abhorrent. When I first heard of this a while back, I dismissed it as silly posturing by a developer. Joke is on me. And everyone who gives a damn about Brac and Cayman as a whole. Whether it's this...
Any temp updates for this coming weekend? I planned on diving wet last month but the charter was canceled and moved to next weekend (10/27). Now I'm contemplating dry.
fpsn: PM sent.
A little friend at a cleaning station at the bottom of a chute at Cocoanut Walk in Bloody Bay, LC, May '12. I noticed the nursey at about 85-ft and signaled up to my wife and daughter to come down to check it out. After getting them down to within feet of the nursey, I finally realize what my...
You have to wonder (hope?) that this condition was something the diver was unaware of as well. I've often wondered about people who are so determined to dive that they fail to self-report on their releases (not saying this is the case here or not- I have absolutely no way to know). Not much an...
Proud papa- I just had to add this one. This is my oldest daughter who turned 10 in September and did her Jr. OW check-outs in Key Largo the weekend of her birthday. This is her on her first OW trip, LC in June '12. She's been around dive gear and scuba her whole life. I felt reborn watching...
Any LC or Brac divers ever see this little guy before? He's tagged and someone spent a lot of time patching his carapace.

I love the blue-tipped anemones off LC.
Cancelled charters or called dives often remind me of canceled flights: there's a reason the plane can't take off. And the people who bitch and moan about not taking off would be the very first people to file a lawsuit if they got injured on a flight due to mechanical failure (assuming they...
Colliam: I dive Cayman (Brac and Little mainly) at least once usually twice a year; get to the Keys once a year; done Bonaire and will again next year. And I generally agree about the ROI on charter trips vs what you do on leisurely tropical getaways.
However, toughing out currents, cold, low...
Just received the dreaded call: "sorry but due to engine issues, our charter this weekend is cancelled..." You don't really hear or care about anything after that. It's like it's 8pm, Dec. 24th and you're telling a kid there's no Santa tomorrow.
So I wrote this to the tune of "Yellowstain...
