Very interested in who you went with. Will save me emails. I work very hard to avoid situations where I'm not allowed to dive my computer.

Dive Belize. Looking for Good Dive Operator / Shop

Not sure if this is late to need, but either do the cruise ship tour, or don't dive. The ship anchors up 30 min from mainland and 30 min from diving....you'll spend 3 hours on a boat to the mainland, back to the atoll and repeat vs 1 hour RT directly off the ship.

    New Diver Wet Suit Question

A 2 piece Jacket and John are what I used for many years. The advantage is you can scale depending on the water temp. Just the Jacket is good for mild water (over 80) and is great for lobstering where you always seem to scratch your arms. You can also put on a skin under it for rash guarding...

    "New" neoprene, weight question(s)

Old shorty maybe a 1. The new vest probably 2lb. Remember at the start you are heavy due to the air anyway and by the end of the dive it will be saturated, so you should be OK. Other question is how you normally weight? Are you "perfect" at 500psi at the end of the dive, or still a little...

    PADI vs NAUI

Great comments all. Between my son and I we cover SSI, PADI, NAUI and TDI. Second and third the "it's not the agency". Just this weekend I saw an instructor with a student (or guided dive) BOTH standing on the bottom of the ocean. Yep and instructor standing on the bottom. I also teach...

    Software for Aeris Elite T3?

Not looking good for us Aeris guys. Huish purchases the combined Oceanic and Aeris. They do not maintain ANY Aeris SW or tools. They can't even just reload the firmware. They DID offer to upgrade me to an Oceanic that is similar for the cost of a refurb ($175-250 vs $600-800).

Trip Report Bonaire trip report and "How to"

I'd love to have specific entry/exit tips for those sites as well as any that other people would like to post. We definitely didn't spend enough time in the shallows....my wife usually takes her camera but did not on this dive....when she does, last 15-20 min are less than 20 feet!

Trip Report Bonaire trip report and "How to"

Hey, same week we were there! We did boat dives with them, so no issues with the lockers to start, but we didn't get a replacement after the changeover....with our dive schedule didn't make sense. Good info and I'll check with them to be sure. The first dive we did their house reef 4 or 5...

Salt Pier. This is one of the iconic dives of Bonaire. An absolute must do! The significant structure attracts all kinds of life from large pelagics to cuttlefish and everything in between. ENTRY. There are two entry points we like. The most popular is to the North of the pier. At first...

Cruise-Friendly Dive Operators in Cozumel and Grand Cayman?

Lou, good to see the feedback from the trips! You used all the same guys I have used. I have been with Anthony's Key, but as a shore guest. In calling several dive operators, I found many use a different standard for their cruise guests than resident guests. I think it's the cruise line's...

    Amber Cove, Dominican Republic

Were the reviews just general diving in Amber cove, or diving while cruising? If off the cruise ship, booking through the cruise lines or separately? Thanks!

    Help with understanding Ship times

No way you can get in 4 dives on that schedule. However for reference, use a time converter (we do this all the time) to make sure. Typically the Ships in the Caribbean stay on the time of the port. Only once in 12 years and 20+ cruises have we ever had them change time. So just convert the...

Cruise-Friendly Dive Operators in Cozumel and Grand Cayman?

Never even been close to being late, but we do a lot of coordination with the operation before. 2 good dives (deep, long, nitrox) and I'm ready for a rum drink anyway. Some locations that is all you will have time to do....others you can go shopping or other activities.

    Amber Cove, Dominican Republic

Raisekayn and I are on the Carnival Valor on 21 May out of Canaveral. Anyone interested in linking up for a dive in DR? We exchanged email with several vendors and settled on Diwa Dive Center. They will provide all gear if you want, with nitrox and allow you to dive your computer profile...
