Two unknowns from Panama City Beach, FL

Ok, the crab is a Banded Porcelain Crab. And your Cowries seem to be Atlantic Deer Cowries.

    Juvenile Damselfish of some sort?

Hmmm, just guesses here. From the Damsels I know (and I think it is a Damsel) it looks like a very dark very small Bicolor. However it also looks close to an adult Black and Yellow Damsel [I]Stegastes pictus[I] but it would be out of range and I have no pictures of what juvi's of that species...

    Name that crustacean...

The red-banded hermit and the stareye both have red stripes on legs. Yours appears very young so the color or pattern may change a little.

Help with two IDs from Dominica

I'm going to change my guess to Red Clingfish (didn't know that fish) but after looking it up, besides what Matt said above, even the slope of the face looks closer than a Goby.

Help with two IDs from Dominica

Tough angles and details, so these are my best guesses: The Crab, due to dark tips on lateral spines and spines on inside "arms",: Black Point Sculling Crab. The fish because it is very small, "orangy" and in a crevice upside down: Rusty Goby.

    More mundanity

Pretty sure all the jacks are bar jacks including the "little bit different one" with more yellow. Then there are 2 slippery dicks, and a Yellowtail snapper on the other pics. and finally another bar jack with a Bluestriped Grunt. @knotical : LBTS = Lauderdale by the Sea, a popular local...

    Name that fish?

RED ... Black margin on tail edge, smooth undulate shape of back fin, no saddle at base of tail, and display pattern more of a RED. The Nassau has that bar/line from snout through eye to back top of head also, but the rest of the pattern is not at all like this pic. This is a Red's pattern

ID fish from the Sea of Cortez

Not really Elvis just an Elvis impersonator I am afraid! This is the Flatworm Mimic (Pseudoceros bajae) it mimics Ghiselin's Chromodorid (Hypselodoris ghiselini) according to this site I found: Divebums: Flatworm Mimic (Pseudoceros bajae)

    sponge? coral?

Yes, it could be something along the lines of "Solitary Gorgonian Hydroid" which is like tiny anemones that attach to the tip of gorgonians.

Mysterious white blobs all over algae reef in devon, UK.

Just a guess here, no solid idea really, but to my eyes on the first closer picture they look like whelk egg-cases but much much smaller. Can they be the ribbon/coil like egg-cases of some small marine snail that likes to feed on this algae?

    Fish I.D. help

I'm not sure if I'm seeing this right with this picture, but it seems to have a very pointed "barracuda-like" snout. Also i borrowed your pic and exaggerated the color and contrast a bit on photoshop, I can also make out that its gill covers are large and end pretty far back of the eye. Also the...

The Spinyhead versus Secretary Blenny Dilemma

I've commented on your photos on the REEF ID forum. So you know I believe these could be Spinnyheads, Secreteraries, or maybe even Roughheads (though I really think #3 is a Spinny) But yes ID for blennies needs lots of minute sharp details so you can clearly see those cirri arrangements on their...

FISH ID Help (silversides sp?) Please - San Juan, PR

1-3 I think are all the same fish. I believe they are all Hardhead silversides, because the lateral line is not too thick, the head is blunt and wider than the body (pic 2 shows this well) and they are all showing the dusky caudal fin tips that hardheads display at nightfall. 4- because of the...

Crab ID Help - San Juan, PR

Sorry. I found Redhair Swimming Crab Portunus ordwayi in H/D REEF Creatures 2nd Ed. I searched online and found only a reference in a Brazilian website (in Portugese) Scroll down though and look by scientific names. To be honest the dead specimen of Portunus ordwayi on that site's picture...
