Also better read the fine print of the “travel insurance”. In the case above, her Insurance did not cover because nothing was wrong with the boat. Also the Oman Aggressor did not notify her until after she was in the country. Not sure I would want to do business with a boat that treats its customers the way the Oman Aggressor did.

Note the Aggressor marketing company did give her a trip on one of the boats they actually own (even though they had nothing to do with how the Oman Aggressor handled the situation)
 
Yes, that happened with Oman Aggressor Liveaboard.
And unfortunately when something similar happens the only thing that helps is full travel insurance.

You obviously did not read that whole thread. Participants in that thread, including the OP, seemed to believe that travel insurance is not commonly available with coverage for a liveaboard cancelling at the last minute for no reason other than that they apparently made a business decision that it would not be profitable to them to do the trip. Cancellation insurance typically covers a limited set of events, such as weather and mechanical failure. The insurance companies may have in mind that the normal recourse for a party to a contract simply backing out is to sue them. To put it another way, you generally can't buy insurance to cover the possibility that someone you contracted with simply refuses to perform the service you paid them for, and it appears liveaboards are no exception.

Who's going to sue Oman Aggressor? Where do you sue them? Oman? Fortunately for the OP, Aggressor Fleet, the franchisor of Oman Aggressor, stepped up to the plate and offered the OP some compensation.
