Thank you all for the info. Some I had considered (ie. waves, boat crashing down on my head etc.) some I had not. Saftey sausage and H2O both great thoughts I hadn't considered. Weight I know will be different not sure how much I normally wear 3mm full suit with hood and 20 lbs in fresh water and was figuring an extra 6 lbs would be about right.

Thanks again,
Brian

Salt water has about 2.5% more density than fresh water.
If you wear the same exposure suit and gear that you used in fresh water, here's how to determine how much more weight you need. Add your body weight to the amount of weight you used in fresh water, add that to the weight of the scuba gear you'll use (usually about 50 pounds), then multiply that total weight by .025. For example, if you weigh 165 and wear 10 pounds in fresh water, you're up to 175 pounds. Add 50 pounds of scuba gear, and you're up to 225 pounds. Multiply by .025 and you'll see that you need another 5.6 pounds to offset the increased buoyant force of seawater. -Clay
