2010 Off the Wall Diver Challenge
Sign Up your four man dive team for the first ever Off the Wall Scuba Diver Challenge. The winning team will win an all expenses paid - full day trip aboard the Retriever diving cool spots around the Chesapeake Bay.
The cost is just $200 per 4 man team ($50 per team member.) Only 4 teams will be allowed entry into the contest, so you have a 1 in 4 chance of winning. To win, you simply have to be the best.
The event will take place at a local Quarry and will include 4 events:
1. Team Navigation (40 point challenge)
Each Team Member must successfully complete an assigned Navigation pattern. As in a relay, the first diver will lead off when he/she reaches the starting point the next diver will go. The team to complete the assignment the fastest will win the challenge. A team may be eliminated by a judge if they are off course.
2. Team Search & Recovery (30 Point Challenge)
Working together, each 4 Man Team must successfully locate and raise by lift bag to the surface a pre-placed submerged item. The team that completes the task the fastest wins the challenge
3. Master Buoyancy Skills (20 Point Challenge)
Aside a platform (one on each side,) One member from each team must establish neutral buoyancy hovering off the edge and while hovering Indian style not allow their head to dip below the platform or feet to rise above the platform for as long as possible. The last team standing wins the challenge.
4. Team Speed Trial (10 Point Challenge)
In a relay style race, Each member must complete a distance swim and return to the start to pass off to the next diver. The team completing the race first wins the challenge
In the event of a tie after 4 events, the tie-breaker will be by coin-toss
Choose your team carefully. A total of 4 teams will be accepted for the challenge. To sign-up your team, send a list of your team member names with phone numbers and emails along with your team payment of $200.00 to Off the Wall Scuba, 3007-A Eastern Blvd. Middle River MD 21220. The first 4 entries received will enter the challenge. If we receive more than 4 entries, we will return the late entry payments.
The date and location will be determined by the 4 team Captains who will attend a meeting at Off the Wall Scuba to discuss specifics. Event Liability and Release Waivers will be required of all participants. Judges and Safety Divers will be provided by Off the Wall Scuba. The team with the most points after all 4 events will be declared the winners. In addition to the Grand Prize, each team Member will receive an Off the Wall Scuba Diver Challenge T-shirt.
