Before Max Scherzer would sign his $210 million contract with the Nationals, he had a condition. He and the wife were passionate about their new hobby, and they wanted it written in to the contract that he would be allowed to pursue it during the off season. No, not jumping out of airplanes. Yes, scuba diving. I guess he can now afford to go wherever he wants.

Max Scherzer is happy on a mound, but ecstatic on an ocean floor

If I were signing him to that contract I'd prohibit him from doing anything but pitching and sleeping in a large vault.
