The seasonal burning on mainland of crops begins. The sky is hazy and the winds are nil. The map below is a satellite nexus with ground observation denoting fire locations and intensities.

As a side note, i have seen Honduras, Salvador and Nicaragua from low level night flights and this event is spectacular.

Lots of wild fires burning throughout Central America and Southern Mexico at the moment as well, they desperately need rain.

usually that smokey haze happens on 4/20.
 
Here finally, 5/4, there is a stiff Easterly breeze, the skies look pretty normal. This cane burn overcast ran about 11 days. Longest that i recall.
