Don't know if 7" tank bands were ever made, since the steel tanks that they would have been made for, are 6.9" diameter.

It has always been my understanding that both were made. The old 72's were 6.9" and steel 85's are 7". I have a set of 6.9".

Again, I could be wrong.

I have 3 sets of Highland Mills bands marked 7.0 on the inside sticker.

The difference between 6.9 and 7.0 is tiny compared to the size variation of steel Fabers.
