This is a copy of a recent article I wrote for the Huffington Post. It's an issue I'm starting to become more and more alarmed about--not just because of the eradication of one species, but because in general its typical of how we treat the seas. Let me know what you think or post comments at the Post. Thanks folks.

You are not afraid of sharks because they are rare? That makes so much sense..I can definitely relate to those feelings.

You know I am COMPLETELY unafraid of Bengal Tigers. I know, I know many people are terribly fearful of these awesome predators, but I have zero fear of them. I have been know to walk alone in wooded areas carry a slightly bloody hamburger in my hand with absolutely zero fear of attack from the Bengal Tigers.. Of course this is in Florida.. But I am sure you understand perfectly.

Talk to the field workers in Bengal about their concerns over Tigers thirty years ago and now--a more apt comparison. Perhaps in Florida it might be more apt to have a fear of elderly drivers or rogue retirees. :D
