Welcome to SB hickton45! You are on the right track! There have been some very good posts to your thread. I to had sinus/allergy issues when I began diving, it was not a big deal at all. I was concerned as are you so I decided to get professional advice from a ENT. Best thing I could have done! My ENT dives and was happy to look at my situation and advise me accordingly. The rest is history, I have enjoyed diving in all kinds of environments. I would strongly advise you to get checked out and explore what your particular issues are. As others have mentioned you might not have any trouble under water. There are alot of contributing factors when it comes to congestion and allergies ; diet, hydration, medications etc. That is why for me better safe than sorry! I am sure your insructor will help educate you on this topic also. Let us know how it goes, enjoy diving it is unbelievably worth it! CamG Keep diving....keep training....keep learning!:)

You might enjoy spending 45 minutes watching THIS video. It's one I think all new divers should see.
