The Abyss Explorer is manufactured by Poseidon, but who makes the Adventure and Tec Pro 1st stages? I didn't see anything like them on the Poseidon Diving Systems' web site. Rebuild kits for Apeks seem to have disappeared at Simply Scuba in the UK, so it's Dive Rite or Abyss for scrounge-free rebuild kits,:sharky:

The model you're talking about is "assembled" by Abysmal : http://abysmal.com/web/products/hardware/regulators.html
The 1st stage is made by Poseidon, the 2nd is made by DSI, manufacturers of the world standard Superlite hats: http://www.divingsystems.com/helmets.html
A reg like that is very hard to beat.

Mares & Sporasub have parts available too.

There are several bottom end beater regs that you can get that have kits readily available too, but I'll stick with my Poseidons.

Hmm... wasn't aware of the Adventure or Tech pro models.

I know the Explorer 2nd stages are made by Kirby Morgan.

My tech instructor dives one and he let me huff on it a bit. These things deliver a HUGE amount of gas. They really come into their own past 120 feet. Above this, especially on the surface, they are a bit touchy, quick to free flow but easy enough to detune if you have the adjustable model.

I couldn't find any information on the subject of the Abyss Adventure or Pro Tec 1st stages - no reviews, no owner reports - nada, so I sent an email to Abyss. This the response:

Those units are our own and are custom made for us.
They are not made by another diving company.

That said, they have rebuild kits for all three of their regs on their web site. Affiliate prices are pretty good too. Looks like I might have to be the guinea pig here.

Purchased both a first stage for standard yoke style values and an abyss adventure 2nd. The first seems extremely well built and sturdy. The 2nd stage also appears well built. I've only dove the combination once so far and am very pleased with it. Unfortunately the lake I was diving in was only 20' feet so I couldn't test it at depth, but it breathed extremely well and easy.
