Not my first choice but the wife plans the vacations. My only prerequiesite is that I can dive. Being from Green Bay warm water is always good.

Any suggestions for diving around Acapulco? I now it is not the Caribbean but that is where we are going.

Thanks

Aw heck, whats a few intermural firefights and some civil unrest?

Just sleep on the floor so you won't get hit by breaking glass, spent rounds, or shards from the window frames or drywall! If you're much above the second floor they hardly ever aim UP during drive-bys, so you should be safe and sound!

But going to restaurants wouldn't be wise - order take-out and have it delivered to the hotel. And shopping might get exciting...you'd want to take cabs so you didn't park anything anywhere; and have the hotel arrange them so you wouldn't get picked up or hijacked by the local version of Cartels Amalgamated, LLC...but other than those tiny details, a day without ballistic trajectories is like a day without sunshine! :D

No Fear!

Bon Voyage...

Even though we love to dive, we just don't do it in Acapulco... might do a forum search... have yet to see anything good about it... just didn't want to waste the money.

Just remember the song
"Well be, going loco down in Aculpuco"

When are you going, the water is starting to cool down. Diving in Acapulco is OK, nothing outstanding but the fishing is terrific!
As for the drug violence, since the new President, the military has taken over most of the police actions other than basic traffic and local patrols. Tourist areas are guarded carefully and are quite secure. Acapulco is a wonderful and beautiful place, just avoid going out alone in the non-tourists areas.

Thanks for the input. As far a the drug wars the don't shoot their customers only the competition.

I am sure we won't be the only gringos. We use beads for trade so they can't steal our money. Also as I heard it is because of the new war on drugs and turf battles.

No turf in the ocean. Acapulco gold use to be good. Too old to know anymore.
