Advice for a newly one-eyed diver with a prosthetic eye?

The only prosthetic eyes that I know of are a glass type and that doesn’t compress and there could be a fair amount of pressure your mask and that could cause discomfort. Have you tried snorkeling with it yet?

Since the OP will be equalizing the pressure in his mask, I don't think that there would be any issues that way. Similarly, assuming there isn't some sort of air pocket trapped behind the shield, I wouldn't think that there would be any risk. I don't know anything about this sort of thing, but as joe points out, is there a concern over losing it?

I guess the other question is how did you lose your eye. If it was an accident, was there any other damage that could potentially be an issue? (No need to answer here incidently)

I also agree that speaking with both your ophthalmologist and DAN.... better yet, a conference call!
