An underwater bug

I know my pictures are not so good, sorry about that.

This little bug was in fresh water at Clear Springs Scuba Park in Terrell, TX. He was in about 10 feet of water. He was about the size of a peppercorn. He was very bright red. I'm not sure if the bug was carrying something or if that is his body or a shell. He was scurrying from one spot to the next in quite a hurry for such a teensy critter!

Maybe. I'm not sure. The stuff I am reading about water mites puts them at 1 mm - 5 mm which seems very very small. In Imperial units, I would say this guy was about 1/16th of an inch.
