... They are selling their rental tanks for $50 each though
which is a pretty good price.....
we might wonder down there this Saturday to see what else they've got
on sale.... if we do, I'll let you know and try to pick you up some tanks.
Wow :11:, what a savings on those new tanks. I think the rentals would be a much better deal. If they have two good ones, I'd be greatful if you picked them up for me. They don't have to be pretty, just in good shape to dive. I just stripped my peely blue tank so it will be looking "aged" in a year or so :D.

Harry said that we're bringing you with us !!!!
And it's going to take both of you too.

LOL! So true, I hate that place, even when the shopping season isn't at its scariest point.
Even on an ordinary Saturday, traffic can be pretty entertaining around there. It's usually not too bad at the The Dive Site but I expect that this Saturday folks will be streaming in from several counties for the shopping.

IIRC, it's at exit 252 off I-65 which is US-31 - which also runs to the Galleria.

Excuse me but now I have to go hide from Mike and Harry.

Yeah. I've never seen new tanks priced that high before around here. $175 is
un heard of. Of course they don't sell many tanks "inland" here either, but
you can typically pick up a new one for $150-$160 I think and mabye $120-$125
on sale. But that still doesn't compare to around $120 in the Florida dive
shops, but of course they can price them lower based on volume ordering.
(I did pick up some new ones on Sale last summer in Florida for $99/tank
but that's pretty rare also).

I stopped by his shop about a year ago and received sticker shock. You got to understand that the neighborhood can support those prices, so I am not complaining if he is getting the $$$ for the gear. Just not from me. As far as the area south of his shop on Hwy 31 close to the Galleria; NOT gonna go there for another 2 months!
Happy Thanksgiving yall.

Well they are out of $50 tanks now. just FYI to all. (got one for you SeaYoda with someone going to pick it up I think today. If you really don't want it, well make sure to find it a good home.)

I couldn't get any other "deals" info out of the owner, except that the new tanks had been lowered to $165. (what a deal, eh?)

I guess you can "stick a fork" in this one.... it's done.

Looks like you can come out of hiding Luke, we most likely won't be bothering with driving down.

Any bets on the next shop in a 150 mile radius to call it quits? anyone?

Man ScubaToys has them for $130, and Neutrally buoyant ones for $150. It's really dangerous living in Dallas (and Phil doesn't show any AL tanks at Dive Sports).

Phil's got them at $129 at his Christmas sale.

You can pick some up this weekend when you come in for the sale :)

He doesn't sell them on the web typically because of the hassles
of shipping costs, etc..

Realistically, unless you're a south florida shop, you can't do enough
volume to sell them any cheaper than the above prices. That
and shipping tanks via web sales in my opinion just isn't cost
effective.
