Dive 2079 7-30-2019 Tuesday FTW JT RIHappyDiver

Sunny hot clear day, light south winds, incoming tide, air temp 87 surface water temp 72F Temp at Max depth 42FSW 64F Visibilty a good 10' down to 20-25FSW then current reduced it to >1'. We turned at the point and made a half circle thru the middle of the cove that ended at the boat ramp. A few togs large enough to take, and close enough too. A few small summer flounder and schools of bait fish.

Later I snorkeled in the cove with my new used DC1400 using a macro lens. I accidently took some pictures that don't look too bad!

If anyone can id WTH this is please do.

Thursday night the Metrowest Dive Club is planning to dive Thursday August 1 at 7:30, so i hope i can get better squid videos.

You say you saw squid? We see no pictures. How's that go? If there are no pictures it didn't happen?

It looks like you'll have the tide and weather on your side. I may show up there. My diver tender surface support is feeling better, she may come along and not dive or seeing how she is working Friday she may opt out and leave me to tend for myself. I'm thinking of a twilight dive, get in at sunset when it's just starting to get dark underwater and dark before the end of the dive. Catch the changing of the guard day to night. The moon will set in the same hour as the sun, by 9pm there will be no sun or moon and a high tide, with no moon there maybe a long slack period, or not.

Dive 2080 8-1-2019 FTW Jamestown night dive solo
Did a short shallow dive after sunset warm, calm evening no waves. Air temp 77F suface water temp70F temp @Max Depth 66F.
Visibility 8 cloudy feet. Max depth 19FSW BT 40mins 60 min total dive time. Some surge. Saw my 1st schoolie striper of the season and big tog staying just outside the vis limit so it appeared more shadow looking than real. Swam across the cove tried to get a picture of a Purple Sponge but couldn't get the lighting right. The surge was enough to mess me up.

Dive 2081 8-2-2019 FTW Jamestown solo
Returned to FTW before low tide to see if the vis was any better, it was not. There were pockets of 10' vis in 10FSW but at 20FSW it >2'. Sunny, light north (on shore) breeze. Air temp 81F surface water temp 70F 67F @Max Depth 20FSW. BT 62min total dive time 90mins. I snorkled and scuba'd using my double hose to the cut out at the middle of the point the current was gentle and carried me to the cut out. After 30min in the cutout I headed back to the ramp with the current pushing me along. I mostly scuba'd on the way back. Did not take any pictures the water was too cloudy.

So I've ID'd this thing.
FTW 8-19 a.JPG

It is a cluster of hatched eggs from either a Radiated Shanny or a Waved Whelk.
